*Job Summary*
CalPortland is seeking a summer intern for the Corporate Engineering Group. This internship is ideal for a student interested in geology. The intern will have the opportunity to work on a variety of heavy capital projects. Exposure to various plants and mine sites.
*Compensation*
$18.50-$24.00/hr DOE
*Responsibilities*
* Complete Safety and MSHA training and any other site/job specific required training
* Carry-out and practice all safety training and Company policies
* Assist with all aspects of economic geology and land issues
* Mapping, mine planning, mineral exploration, permitting, research of government land issues, and environmental geology
* Provide help, designing and budgeting for projects at multiple plant locations
* Additional work with other engineering disciplines
* Assist in routine housekeeping and maintenance of the facilities
* Learn about other CalPortland departments and interface as required
* Attend summer intern orientation event at corporate headquarters in Glendora, CA
* Perform plant tasks as assigned
*Education*
Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Geology
*Requirements/Qualifications*
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
* Good attendance and punctual
* Ability to work a flexible schedule.
* Ability to work independently and in a team setting
* Must possess valid driver's license, insurance and be insurable to drive company vehicles
*Preferred:*
* Experience with equipment management software
* Basic knowledge of CAD or GIS
* Ability to hike up to 5 miles in desert summer conditions
* Prior experience or internship in construction or building materials industry
*Conditions of Employment*
Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing.
