Overview
Calspan Systems in Newport News, VA is an industry leader in the engineering and manufacture of complex aerospace hardware and prototype systems for ground test and flight applications. We have been employed in the development of nearly every domestic fixed-wing aircraft, missile, and helicopter system. We are looking for a Senior Technician to join our team. This position is responsible for instrument and assembles aerospace hardware components into complete assemblies for ground-based and flight testing.
Responsibilities
- Instrument and assemble hardware components into complete assembled test articles; produce cables and harnesses, populate PC boards as required.
- Lead assigned tasks by planning the sequence of operations depending upon specified material and assembly to ensure completion within schedule and budget
- Verify conformance of finished assembly to specified tolerances, blueprint specifications, and other required specifications with various measurement tools, including, but not limited to, calipers, scales, micrometers, and gauges
- Interpret, select, adopt and apply appropriate guidelines, procedures, and practices which relate to appropriate assemblies, disassembles and component rework or repair
- Identify, verify and keep accurate documentation of all instrumentation and/or required testing
Qualifications
Preferred Education / Experience:
- Associates Degree;
- 5 years of related discipline; or
- A combination of education and experience equivalent to above
Preferred Knowledge / Ability:
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings and documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- May be required to travel up to 10% of the time
- Demonstrated knowledge of instrumentation application, including strain gages, soldering, PC board population and cable and harness manufacture.
