Position Overview:
The all-new Cambria Hotel Lake Placid - Lakeside Resort is seeking an experienced Hotel Chef to join our team! As a Hotel Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all culinary activities in our hotel's kitchen. You will play a vital role in creating a delightful dining experience for our guests, ensuring that high-quality, delicious, and visually appealing meals are prepared and served promptly. You will lead a team of kitchen staff and collaborate with other hotel departments to maintain excellent food standards, hygiene, and customer satisfaction.
Job Responsibilities:
- Menu Planning: Work closely with the Food & Beverage Director to help develop creative and diverse menus that cater to various tastes and dietary preferences while considering seasonal ingredients and cost-effectiveness.
- Food Preparation: Supervise and participate in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of meals to maintain the highest culinary standards.
- Quality Control: Ensure all dishes meet the established quality and taste standards before they are served to guests.
- Kitchen Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, including inventory control, food ordering, and equipment maintenance.
- Staff Supervision: Lead, train, and motivate kitchen staff to maintain a productive and harmonious work environment.
- Safety and Hygiene: Enforce strict health and safety guidelines in the kitchen and ensure compliance with food handling and sanitation standards.
- Cost Control: Monitor food costs and portion control to optimize expenses without compromising on quality.
- Collaborate with Other Departments: Work closely with the Food & Beverage Director, Restaurant Manager, Servers, Banquet Staff, and other hotel departments to ensure a seamless dining experience for guests.
- Special Events: Plan and execute special menus and catering services for events and banquets as needed.
- Stay Updated: Keep up-to-date with culinary trends, new techniques, and industry developments to continuously improve menu offerings.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Chef, Sous Chef, or similar role in a hotel or upscale restaurant.
- A culinary degree or relevant certification from a culinary institution is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of various cooking techniques, cuisines, and food presentation.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills to effectively manage and inspire the kitchen team.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- In-depth understanding of food safety regulations and best practices.
- Creativity and passion for food, along with an eagerness to experiment with new dishes.
- Flexibility to work during weekends, evenings, and holidays as per the hotel's operational needs.
