RESPONSIBILITIES: The Administrative Assistant I provides support in all areas of the Department Education. Job duties as Administrative Assistant I include, but are not limited to:
- Work extensively with a variety of operating systems (e.g. Banner, Blackboard, Degree Works, Mitel, Navigate and Web Editor)
- Participate in department, university and community-related professional development activities
- Establish and maintain an efficient filing system for department records and reports
- Assist with development, implementation, and compliance of department policies and procedures
- Assist with the maintenance of financial accounts and processing of purchase orders
- Maintain effective communication and work relations with various on-campus and off-campus entities
- Participation in training procedures for new faculty, adjunct faculty and student workers, as necessary
- Ability to perform regular website, social media, and digital display updates
- Maintain confidentiality of student records according to FERPA
- Prepare and proofread correspondence
- Sort and distribute incoming and outgoing mail
- Maintain office supply inventory
- Assist with pre-advisement
- Perform other related duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of a standard high school or equivalent
- Ability to prioritize, coordinate, and complete multiple, complex tasks
- Collaborative working style to help achieve department goals
- Ability to work with persons from diverse backgrounds
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- College graduate, Associate or Bachelor’s degree in any field
- One to two years’ experience relative to administrative programs
- Accurate demonstration of English spelling, punctuation, and grammar
- Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite and other related technologies
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills using a variety of communication channels (i.e., telephone, email, social media and in-person)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: - Ability to lift objects under 15 pounds including using the upper body to raise objects from a lower position to a higher position; ability to reach including extending the arm and hand; ability to stand for short or extended periods of time; ability to engage in repetitive motions including finger dexterity; ability to speak, hear and see. Ability to crouch, climb and walk stairs.
SALARY RANGE: $23,500
