JOB TITLE: Program Assistant

JOB DETAILS:

Our Team is charged with assisting people who are chronically homeless in Miami-Dade County with permanent supportive housing. The Team provides management of illness and symptoms, guidance and practical assistance with daily living, rehabilitation, and recovery support to help clients remained housed. The Program Assistant ensures the smooth and effective functioning of the team through administrative support to program staff with minimal supervision. In doing so, the Program Assistant works collaboratively with the Psychiatrist, Nurse, Clinicians, and Case Managers. The model is considered low demand and is based on client choice. It is also non-traditional in that all Team members “share” the client and related responsibilities.

Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred in Human Services or related field; any appropriate combination of education, experience and/or certification will be considered from an accredited college or university or in lieu of degree 3 years of relevant experience may be considered.

Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience in same or similar job role is preferred.

Language: Proficiency in oral/written English; Spanish preferred; additional languages a plus (i.e., Creole).

Skills: Proficiency in computer (Microsoft Office, other data collecting programs)

Successful completion of Toxicology test and of a Level 2 background screening.

Valid FL Driver License with clean driving record is required for this position.

ABOUT CAMILLUS: For more than 62 years, Camillus House has provided a variety of programs to address the needs of individuals who are mentally ill and suffer from substance abuse disorders, with the end goal of helping them achieve housing stability. QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will:

  • Be comfortable working directly with highly vulnerable populations in an outpatient basis as part of a multidisciplinary street outreach program
  • Be proficient in oral and written English
  • Have competency in MS Office/Outlook and other data entry programs
  • Be able to successfully complete Level II background screening and toxicology test, have a Valid FL Driver License with clean driving record, and be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis
  • Greet visitors in a hospitable manner, ascertains purpose of visits and directs them to appropriate staff.
  • Attend daily morning meetings, takes minutes, and communicates relevant scheduling and program information to staff as they conduct their work in the community.
  • Process checks requisitions for the team.
  • Inputs, manages, and provides monthly management information system reports.
  • Assure that client files are secure.
  • Assist in audit preparation activities.
  • Maintain excel tracking spreadsheets for quality assurance chart activities.
  • Conduct at least quarterly patient chart audits.
  • Order and keeps inventories of supplies.
  • Maintain and updates program logs.
  • Oversee and coordinate special projects for the Program Director and the team
  • Serve as the liaison to other departments such as Finance, Facilities and Administration.
  • Answer the telephone, perform clerical duties, type, copy, file and distribute mail and correspondence for the staff and clients.
  • Participates in Camillus House committees and meetings.
