What are the responsibilities and job description for the Welder position at CAMPBELL TRANSPORTATION COMPANY INC.?
Welders are primarily responsible for the safety of fellow teammates, and the environment. Welders perform tasks associated with repairing barges and vessels, as well as equipment cleanliness and maintenance.
Tasks are performed in all weather conditions outside. Work is performed on an 8hour shift. This position may require overtime.
Essential Welder Responsibilities:
Work in a safe manner at all times, following all company safety regulations and procedures.
- Inspect, correct, or notify others of any conditions which affect the safety of people or equipment.
- Effectively use all safety equipment as required by company policies
- Welds components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions
- Must be able to stick weld, flux core
- Inspect workpieces for defects, and measure for conformance to templates to meet specifications
- Handle rigging during crane operations and signal the crane operator.
- Examine cables, wires, and lines to ensure they are fit for use.
- Use of appropriate power tools for repairs when necessary.
- Painting
- Entry of confined spaces in accordance with company policy may perform work in environments that require a Hot Work Permit
- Learn and adhere to all CTC policies, USCG, and federal regulations
- Assist with yard upkeep as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Educational and Job Qualifications:
- Must possess or have the ability to possess Transportation Worker's Identification Card (TWIC)
Preferred Educational and Job Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Trade school, or equivalent experience welding
- Prior experience in a similar position within the marine industry
- Prior experience in a safety-sensitive position
Physical Capabilities:
Must be able to perform the following:
- Traverse barges.
- Transport equipment of 60 to 100 pounds up to 1000 feet.
- Ascend/Descend a 90-degree ladder up to 40 feet.
- Move, transport, and position equipment up to 100 pounds.
- Position self to move through an 18-inch diameter hatch.
- Move two (2) feet horizontally and vertically.
- Maintain constant communication with team members.
- Ability to recognize and identify distant objects, and recognize distances between objects
- Constantly work in outdoor weather conditions.
- Constantly standing, sitting, or kneeling
- Moving and working in confined spaces
- Work shift a min. of 8 hrs. (overtime could be required)
- Pass Respirator fit testing
