The Plumbing Service Technician is responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and addressing residential plumbing needs and offering appropriate solutions to fulfill the needs and wants of the customers. Jobs typically encompass the installation, repair, and maintenance of pipes, fixtures, and general plumbing used for both water distribution and wastewater disposal. Following Canady’s Service System approach to ensure a great customer experience, the Service Technician will leverage a strong technical skill set to also achieve targeted productivity objectives. Canady’s Service Technicians are the face of the company and focus on best-in-class service resulting in great online reviews, referrals and repeat customers for life.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Follow Canady’s Service System approach to ensure best-in-class customer experience resulting in great online reviews, referrals and, repeat customers.
  • Meet individual productivity goals and contribute to the team and branch objectives, achieving the core KPI’s (key performance indicators)
  • Maintain a strong technical skill set while continuing to evolve and enhance required skills as necessary (with the support of management and outside resources)
  • Provide multiple options to the customer based on diagnosis of the initial customer request and a thorough evaluation of the customer’s entire plumbing system.
  • Explain recommended solutions clearly, including the benefits of each option, and ensure customer understanding throughout.
  • Provide service, repair, installation, and or replacement of various plumbing systems based on the option selected.
  • Ensure all installations, repairs, and maintenance meet the requirements of the appropriate codes, ensuring permits are procured and inspections completed as necessary.
  • Maintain communication with the customer, explain work clearly, check for customer understanding, and ensure the customer has an opportunity to see work, ask any questions, and provide sign-off.
  • Explain the proper operation and ongoing maintenance of any work completed, and answer related questions as to operation, features, and functions.
  • Collect payment and reaffirm the commitment to customer satisfaction by requesting an online review.
  • Utilize the company-provided tablet and software platform throughout the service call, ensuring all steps are appropriately completed throughout.
  • Communicate with Dispatcher and Service Manager throughout service calls to ensure proper, prompt completion of the job.
  • Address any follow-up customer questions as appropriate while working to ensure a positive ongoing relationship with all customers.
  • Maintain the appropriate dress code and a clean and professional appearance at all times to represent the company in the best possible manner.
  • Attend training and team meetings as requested.

  • Ability to adapt to changes in business practices and evolving customer needs/requirements
  • Willingness to work a varying schedule from time to time, depending on customer demand; including outside normal shifts or schedules with minimal notice if required
  • Providing accurate and timely invoicing, timesheets, and other daily paperwork
  • Ability to maintain a good driving record that corresponds with insurance coverage

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Lift, transport, and adjust heavy objects (75-100 lbs) which may also come in contact with sharp, hot, and/or very cold supplies and equipment
  • Exposure to the smells associated with sewer and water
  • Safe and courteous driving at all times
  • Exposure to the sounds associated with power tools, dust, and other debris.
  • Work is performed in residential homes and service may be performed in confined areas. Frequent bending, twisting, climbing, squatting, and reaching is required
  • Ability to be trained and effectively use an electronic tablet to conduct business

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:

  • Two years of residential plumbing experience preferred
  • Will consider Apprentice Plumbers with 2 years of experience
  • Master’s and/or Journeyman licenses are also preferred but not required
