What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lease Operator 1 (Garfield County) position at CANVAS ENERGY LLC?
The Lease Operator works power driven pumps and equipment that transfer oil, gas and/or liquids from producing oil and/or gas wells. Under broad supervision employee will be responsible for the daily operation of all producing wells on the assigned route, maximizing the daily production for those wells and completing all daily reporting of the production through internal computer applications. Performs minor maintenance on production equipment and ensures all work is performed in compliance with Company policies and procedures including environmental, health and safety standards. Works directly with other members of the production team to insure that Company goals are me where effectiveness is measured by meeting production goals, reduced operating costs, and/or improved safety for the Company and its employees. The Lease Operator may frequently work variable days off schedule. Primary responsibilities for this position include:
Knowledge and Skills:
- Observes pressure gauges and flow meters, and adjusts valves to regulate speed of pumps and control pressure and rate of flow of materials.
- Transfers materials to and from storage tanks, processing tanks and trucks.
- Pumps crude oil from wells and transfers liquids by siphoning; determines density of liquids, records quantity of item pumped, inventories contents of storage tank.
- Maintains pumps and lines by replacing filters and gaskets, tightening connections, and adjusting pumps.
- Connects pipelines between pumps and containers or storage tanks being filled or emptied.
- Collects samples of materials for laboratory analysis.
- Observes location for spills and reports any unusual occurrence to Supervisor.
- Calls repair crews as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- Vocation training and/or a College Degree is desirable
- Minimum of 1-2 years pumping experience preferred, but not required
- Strong mathematical aptitude
- Some Computer knowledge with the ability to us an iPad and smart phone
- Strong communication skills with ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to work with limited supervision
- Must have a valid Driver’s License
- Must be able to work as assigned to rotating callout schedule after-hours and weekends/holidays, may be required to live within a reasonable distance of reporting location and willing to travel.
- Position will require working in conditions of extreme heat and cold, high noise levels, poor ventilation, fumes and gases that will require personal protective equipment and training.
- This position requires that he or she complete an ergonomic job analysis to determine physical ability to lift 75lbs and carry at least 20 feet, negotiating ladders and climbing stairs.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
