The Portfolio Analyst is an integral role, supporting teams in delivering value for internal and external customers. Primary responsibilities focus on demand management for portfolio teams by evaluating capacity exists for prioritized work. This role supports prioritization and sequencing of the work to balance capacity with maximum delivery of value. This role will require significant experience with organization transformation, supporting business and technology teams to successfully establish and empower agility, as well as the methods and frameworks that advocate and institutionalize Lean practices.
The ideal candidate for this position will have the skills and experience necessary to:
Lead resourcing strategy, methodologies, process, and capacity planning consistent with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and Lean Portfolio Management best practices
Coach portfolio and delivery teams through the capacity planning processes on a daily basis
Provide expertise in leading tradeoff discussions for any work by balancing capacity and demand across delivery teams, while optimizing value delivery to our customers and our business.
Establish, improve, and adopt principles, processes and technologies, which enable effective team/ people/ skills planning, and in line with enterprise objectives, policies, and standards
Support prioritization, forecasting and project sequencing for the portfolios teams
Prepare for and assists in facilitation of bi-annual/ quarterly planning meetings for enterprise portfolio
Develop, implement, and execute strategies aiming to promote the efficient and effective management and utilization of teams/ people/ skills
Proactively review staffing data, and develop and communicate meaningful insights on trends, forecasts, opportunities for improvement and areas of concern; provide suggestions for improvement
Facilitate discussions relating to estimation of technology initiatives involving multiple teams and multiple technologies/ systems/ applications
Actively seek out and solve for barriers / problems / risks to ensure a successful capacity planning function.
Develop and lead the maturation of capacity planning processes and capabilities
Technical Experience and Qualifications
Highly motivated and natural self-starter, independent thinker, and team player
Experience in leading a resourcing group technology function or other related experience
Experience with Lean, agile, and SAFe principles a plus
Experience in portfolio management or as a Release Train Engineer a plus
Willingness and expertise to collaborate with cross-departmental leaders to ensure proper resourcing strategies are implemented. Comfortable working with all levels of the organization
History of process improvement and influencing change
Strong excel, data visualization and PowerPoint skills
Excellent communication skills and highly collaborative working style
Proven ability to facilitate large group meetings
Willingness to create new tools and processes, and comfortable with ambiguity
Exhibits an exceptional degree of ingenuity, creativity and resourcefulness in decision making and problem solving
Requires solid judgment and ability to accomplish goals
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field required
Ability to work effectively in dynamic, rapidly changing, team-based environment
Proven ability to function in a heavily matrixed environment
A combination of education and experience may meet requirements.
Location: This opportunity is located at our brand-new Zions Technology Center in Midvale, Utah (We have a hybrid schedule of 3 days in the office and 2 days remote within the Salt Lake City area) or can be remote within the continental United States.
Salary – depends on experience: $110,000 - $125,000
