Buyer III
Founded in 1968, Capco is an innovative, vertically integrated, industry-leading designer-developer-manufacturer of highly-engineered mechanical and energetic devices. It serves as a prime contractor for key procurement offices from each of the U.S. Department of Defense’s service branches, as well as serving a broader commercial customer base of OEMs and suppliers in a variety of industries.
Essential Functions (including but not limited to)
- Work with Materials Manager, Production Manager, and other team leads to prioritize materials requirements to ensure the production schedule is met.
- Solicit bids, analyze quotes received and negotiate with vendors for goods and services while negotiating the best possible price and service guarantee for vendor selection.
- Work with Materials Manager to develop purchase contracts for suppliers to ensure competitive business practices.
- Forecast, plans, and develop purchase orders for specific products; sources new suppliers where vendors are inadequate.
- Supply Chain Requirements: Proactively transact daily activities to support delivery requirements while managing assigned commodities for lowest total cost purchasing, regulating inventory levels, and achieving targeted turns ratios.
- Establish purchasing policies and ensure compliance.
- Trace delinquent purchase orders, late deliveries, and engages management for solutions.
- Work with Capco Program Management Office to examine new product solicitations to assist in awarding new business.
- Establish Vendor account/credit and terms.
- Coordinate, validate, and execute submission of Supplier Scorecards monthly/quarterly.
- Negotiate blanket purchase orders when appropriate and monitor cost and delivery accuracy during the time period.
- Comply with safety and company guidelines on business ethics.
- Control inventory levels to sustain operations, establish control through assessing and calculating inventory needs.
- Implement supply cost and inventory control solutions to control cost, improve cash flow and margins to optimize operational efficiency.
- Consult with manufacturers, distributors, suppliers, and representatives concerning product and supply chain non-conformances.
- Capability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization, both written and verbal
- Demonstrated ability in negotiation and validated supplier management skills
- Demonstrates Microsoft Office Proficiency (Excel/Word/Access/Outlook)
- Analyze purchasing requirements against applicable technical data and drawings
- Schedule purchase orders for blanket purchase order delivery requirements against contract requirements
- Must meet Capco attendance requirements
Other Job Functions
- Ensure vendors and suppliers meet all quality requirements against established standards and customer requirements
- Proactive attention to detail and strong problem solving skills, well organized with the ability to manage and prioritize tasks
- Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications
- US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card Holder
- Bachelors degree (Business, Management, Logistics, Finance, Supply Chain or related field) or combination of education and 10 work experience
- 7 years previous supply chain/procurement experience
- English Proficiency
- Must be 18 years of age
Preferred Qualifications
- Manufacturing, Lean, Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement experience; Certifications desired
- 7 years previous MRP/ERP experience
- Certified Purchasing Manager
- Basic understanding of GD&T and blueprint reading
- Familiar with FAR
Salary : $62,000 - $75,000
