Body Paint Helper
Job Summary:
The Body Paint Helper position is responsible for making body repairs, major or minor, on all CATA vehicles, as well as performing all paint work, and assisting mechanics when needed.
Duties:
- Review work orders or descriptions of problems to determine repairs or modifications needed.
- Perform body repair work using necessary equipment i.e., sanders, spray guns, metal-cutting equipment, welding equipment, and grinders.
- Responsible for repairing and replacing body components on all CATA vehicles, including but not limited to sedans, SUVs, minivans, small (cutaway), and large, heavy-duty buses.
- Fill small dents or scratches with body fillers and smooth surfaces to prepare vehicles for painting.
- Buff and wax the finished paintwork.
- Disassemble, clean, and reassemble sprayers and power equipment, using solvents, wire brushes, and cloths for cleaning duties.
- Install vehicle parts and accessories.
- Assist mechanics in repairing body work on vehicles when needed.
- Currently CATA does not have a facility for painting vehicles or components. However, if CATA obtains such capabilities, the candidate must be willing and able to perform painting duties.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior experience in vehicle body work, repair, alterations, and paint process is required.
- This is a safety sensitive position. Candidates will be subject to and must be able to pass pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing and must be able to pass a DOT physical examination.
- Must possess a Temporary Instruction Permit for a Commercial Driver License or possess a CDL B with Passenger and Airbrake endorsements.
- High school diploma plus specialized training equivalent to no less than 2 years of college level courses or 2 years technical training in body repair/fabrication required
- Must possess or be able to obtain an Industrial Forklift permit within 90 days of employment.
- Must provide a complete set of tools to perform job duties (excluding special tools).
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS:
- Class B Commercial Driver License with Air Brake and Passenger endorsements within 90 working days of hire.
- An Industrial Forklift permit within 90 days of employment.
