Capital Health Emergency Medical Services:
- Five Mobile Intensive Care Units (MICU)
- New Jersey’s only Mobile Stroke Unit
- Mercer County tactical medics for Sheriff’s emergency response team
- Participates on DECON Team
- Oversees Capital Health’s emergency preparedness
- First Aid coverage at special community and sport events
- Mercer County’s Mobile Intensive Care Unit – provides preceptors for US special operation combat medics
- Progressive Medical Leadership
Our CH EMS offers:
- 12 hour shifts
- Shift differential for evening/nights
- Fixed Platoon rotations - This is a fixed shift pattern that uses teams to provide 24/7 coverage
- Annual uniform stipend/allowance.
- Experience working in urban, suburban and rural settings with a diverse patient population.
- Paid continuing education courses/workshops.
Responsibilities
- Responds to dispatched emergency assignments.
- Implements patient care procedures by using assessment skills pertaining to the illness or injury.
- Identifies and manages rapidly changing situations of an emergency patient care situation. Assesses patient's current condition through physical and verbal exam via patient or others present.
- Collects all available pertinent patient information form patient, family, friends, medical records, and medications.
- Transfers the patient to care provider and facility providing the receiving staff with a report. Completes all paperwork requirements during patient transfer.
- Completes patient care record including demographic information, clinical findings, history, medications, allergies treatment rendered, and any changes during transport.
- Provides a comprehensive written incident report describing any unusual event.
- Frequent physical demands include: Climbing (e.g., stairs or ladders) , Carry objects , Push/Pull , Twisting , Bending , Reaching forward , Reaching overhead , Squat/kneel/crawl , Wrist position deviation , Pinching/fine motor activities , Keyboard use/repetitive motion
- Occasional physical demands include: Sitting , Taste or Smell
- Continuous physical demands include: Standing , Walking , Talk or Hear
- Lifting Floor to Waist 125 lbs. Lifting Waist Level and Above 50 lbs.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Previous EMT experience preferred.
- NJ EMT certification by the NREMT, or the State of New York, or any member state of the Atlantic EMS Council, including Delaware, the district of Columbia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia.
