Cardenas Markets is seeking a retail store Meat Manager to join our team. The Meat Manager manages meat department operations, ensures food safety, oversees product safety, works with suppliers and vendors, carries out inventory duties, and performs customer service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Oversee Team Members and implement strategies to increase productivity;
- Complete opening duties as assigned;
- Monitor quality of meat, poultry, and seafood;
- Ensure food safety and enforce applicable health department guidelines;
- Prepare the weekly sales and labor projections for the meat department in order to maximize sales and profits;
- Follow approved meat department plans for an effective space management based on movement; consumer demand and profitability;
- Effectively supervise, train, schedule and conduct annual performance reviews on all meat department personnel;
- Review Team Members’ weekly schedule to ensure a fully-staffed department;
- Ensure favorable department image with customers through a clean and friendly environment;
- Provide customer service by greeting and assisting customers, responding to customer inquiries and complaints;
- Maintain specified inventory levels.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Food Handler’s Card;
- Prior meat department experience required;
- At least two years’ experience as a meat cutter;
- Strong management experience;
- Strong understanding of grocery store operations;
- Ability to develop and achieve sales and production goals;
- Ability to monitor sales and labor levels.

The physical demands and work conditions below represent those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Some requirements may be modified to accommodate individuals with disabilities:
- WALKING: Continuously, throughout the shift, while moving about the store and obtaining product.
- STANDING: Continuously, throughout the shift.
- LIFTING: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and occasionally lift up to 75 lbs.

The pay scale above is the salary or hourly wage range that the Company reasonably expects to pay for this position.
Within this range, individual pay is determined by location and other factors including, but not limited to, specific skills, relevant work experience, and relevant education and/or training. This information is provided to applicants in accordance with California Labor Code § 432.3 and state and local minimum wage standards.
Full Time position, including weekends and holidays.
