What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intern – Software Developer (COBOL) position at Career Opportunities?
The internship will be focused on the design, coding and testing of a SECURA’s Personal Lines system.
The duration of this position is starting May 2023, with the potential to continue the internship throughout the school year until the student graduates. Remote work may be considered for students who attend non-local schools. Throughout the school year, this position is part-time at 15 hours per week or less, depending upon class schedule and our company’s business hours which are M-F 8-4:30pm. During summer and breaks, the position can be 40 hours per week.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Partner with team members to write, translate and code software programs and applications according to requirements
- Write and execute unit tests
- Resolve system defects and enhance existing functionality
- Collaborate with other software developers to understand desired functionality
- Provide written and verbal updates on progress
- Participate in knowledge share and update meetings
- Complete other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Computer science or information systems course work, some exposure to COBOL
- Demonstrates eagerness to learn
- Detail oriented and ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
