Job Brief
High growth Transportation Company, seeks a highly skilled and experienced Terminal Manager to oversee the operations and management of their Jacksonville, FL location. As the Terminal Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe movement of goods, managing a team of drivers and staff, maintaining terminal facilities, and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations. This is a critical role that requires strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the terminal, which includes processing and reporting inbound and outbound freight, assisting corporate with order planning and scheduling, and dispatching the trucks while overseeing the number of stops, weight, and condition of the load prior to departure to ensure error-free delivery
- Ensure efficient utilization of resources by protecting and securing all loads to ensure error-free transit
- Assist with monitoring truck maintenance schedules and conduct daily damage inspections, to ensure safety rules, company policies, and regulations are followed
- Conduct all aspects of inbound and outbound freight movement, which includes scanning, inventory control and management, freight receiving and tendering, various reports for overages, shortages, and damages, and oversight of the successful delivery of our customer's products
- Process various claims for damages, losses, and returns through customer-specific processes and documentation
- Recruit, train, and supervise hourly and temp terminal staff, which includes drivers, dispatchers, mechanics, administrative personnel, to ensure correct freight processing
- Foster a positive work environment that maintains high service quality levels, by providing coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to encourage growth and development
- Communicate effectively with management
- Inspect terminal work for professionalism to ensure tasks are conducted and completed in an accurate and efficient manner, while adhering to federal, state, local, and company compliance, policy, and procedures
Your Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED-equivalent is required
- Bachelor's Degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management or another related field is preferred and highly desired
- 5 years of proven experience in trucking operations, such as dock, driver, or leadership experience
- Background experience in handling furniture or home appliance is preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong operational knowledge and experience with logistics operations occupations, cross-docking and loading of trucks, customer service experience, scheduling of freight, and route monitoring
- Adaptable and flexible within the work environment, to adjust to expected and unexpected changes in a calm, effective, and efficient manner
- A valid driver's license is required
- The ability to pass a 50-state criminal background check and drug test is required
