JOB OVERVIEW
The Assistant, Materials is responsible for facilitating all fabric and trim development. This individual will partner with the cross functional teams to support the execution of seasonal fabric and trim developments that meet all aesthetic requirements and are in line with sourcing strategy and cost targets.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare fabric packages and send to potential mills / vendors for sourcing
- Prepare packages for lab dips and strike offs for material development
- Perform all development fabric and garment testing, and corresponding data tracking
- Manage all development files, seasonal recaps, and processes statuses
- Manage all fabric submissions, developments, and approvals
- Manage the trim matrix and ensure all critical process information is maintained
- Maintain fabric and trim reference libraries for existing and future garments
- Maintain lap dips and strike offs files
- Measure samples, as needed
- Track samples with vendors
- Receive and distribute packages within the materials department / team
- Assist with data entry projects, as needed
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
- Proficient in Microsoft Applications
- Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
- Knowledge of fabric construction
- Knowledge of garment fit and pattern alterations
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to measure garments
- Ability to prioritize workflow based on deadlines
- Ability to problem solve and communicate all issues to cross functional departments
- Ability to travel internationally
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree or technical trade school and / or equivalent
- Minimum 1-year experience in accessories and / or apparel product development
