What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ride Operator position at Careers?
SUMMARY: The Ride Operator’s primary role is to operate designated amusement rides and create great customer experiences by providing a safe, clean venue with friendly service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED
● Provide exceptional guest service
● Ensures the safe operation of amusement rides.
● Ensures that ride components and work area are cleaned daily and presentable to guests.
● Inspect ride equipment to ensure all safety features are operating correctly.
● Establishes and retains knowledge about ride-specific operational procedures to ensure rider safety.
● Assist guests in and out of rides as necessary
● Establishes and retains knowledge about General Park information in order to be first-line ambassadors of New Orleans City Park and its offerings.
● Cross-training opportunities to perform in a cashiering position, Food & Beverage attendant, or other park positions.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Must be 16 years or older
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred but not require
- Friendly, outgoing personality who would be comfortable inviting guests to your ride.
Machinery/Tools/Equipment Requirements: The ability to learn to operate a cash register, kitchen related equipment, and Amusement ride equipment.
Physical Requirements:
• The ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Will involve standing most of the time but may involve walking or sitting for brief periods of time.
• Sitting or standing, bending, stooping, and the ability to carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Constant adequate range of motion and mobility required.
• Regular near acuity with clarity of vision at 20 inches or less required.
• Typical ability to collect and analyze numerical and written data and verbal information to reach logical conclusions and ability to determine the time, place and sequence of operations or actions required.
• Regular talking and the ability to express and exchange ideas by means of language expected.
• Regular hearing and the ability to perceive the nature of sounds.
• Constant ability to read, record, or type data quickly and accurately required.
Environmental/Working Conditions:
• Working long hours between breaks or meals required.
• Must be flexible and available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to work under and handle stress in an appropriate manner required.
• May be exposed to high, medium, or low noise intensity.
• Constant contact with co-workers and guests required.
• Exposure to fluctuations in temperatures will be required.
• Exposure to outdoor conditions will be required.
