The Position
The Accounts Payable Manager will be a trusted contributor of the accounting and finance team. Within finance, the Accounts Payable Manager will be responsible for training and development of the Accounts Payable team and will report directly to the Controller. This integral Team Member will also be responsible for processing invoices received for payment and for undertaking the payment of all vendors in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner, and maintaining relationships with vendors and Hospital Managers across the CareVet network.
Specific Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Accounts Payable Team
- Navigate conversations and maintain relationships with both vendors and hospital leadership
- Collaborate closely across departments as needed
- Perform day to day activities for the full payment cycle
- Track, process and reconcile payments, purchase orders, invoices, statements, checks, refund requisitions etc., in compliance with financial policies
- Ensure correct approval, sorting, coding and matching of invoices/receipts
- Continuously improve payment process
- Prepare and process checks for multiple companies
- Update and maintain vendor database
- Audit and verify integrity of expense reports
- Prepare 1099s as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications
- At least two years of experience as an Accounts Payable Supervisor or Manager within a multi-site organization (strong preference exist for candidates coming from a veterinary, dental, or healthcare setting)
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field is required
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Confident navigating conversations with vendors and internal leaders and maintaining those relationships
- Working proficiency in Excel
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong leadership skills
