The Position
The Payroll Specialist will be a trusted contributor of the People & Culture team. Within the team, the Payroll Specialist will be responsible for all tasks relating to payroll processing such as processing employees' timesheets and payroll data, calculating wages, issuing statements, detailing earnings, and preparing paychecks. The Payroll Specialist has a range of duties that include processing high volume multi-state payroll, resolving state and local taxes issues, calculating wages, and ensuring employees receive their pay on time.
Specific Responsibilities
- Verifying & processing time sheets.
- Entering employee information and payroll data into the system.
- Answering employees' questions and concerns regarding payroll.
- Calculating payable hours, commissions, bonuses, taxes, and deductions.
- Processing new employees, promotions, and terminations.
- Issuing statements detailing earnings and deductions.
- Issuing and delivering paychecks to employees.
- Investigating and resolving payroll discrepancies.
- Maintaining and updating payroll records.
- Preparing periodic payroll reports.
- Researching and resolving state and local taxes issues
- Applying for unemployment and withholding accounts in new states.
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven work experience with multistate payroll
- Strong knowledge of payroll taxes required
- CPP, degree in HR, Business or related field
- Knowledge of Paycor, our payroll software, is beneficial.
- Ability to carry out all tasks with a very high attention to detail.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to timelines.
- Ability to prioritize and to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
- Highly organized, efficient and works in a timely manner.
- Excellent math skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Team player.
- Ability to listen to employees and address questions related to payroll.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
