Caring Unlimited is looking for an enthusiastic advocate to provide advocacy for and with survivors navigating criminal justice systems. This advocate will do meaningful work in a supportive and flexible environment with great benefits. Our team is working to create community change while supporting survivors of gender-based violence. Experience in the field of advocacy and direct service are valued but not required. We are seeking motivated and caring individuals who are reliable and willing to work as part of a team. We encourage people who are BIPOC (Black Indigenous People of Color), LGBTQ , and/or have lived experience of immigration, gender-based violence, disability, and poverty to apply.

Job Description:

Caring Unlimited is York County’s Domestic Violence Resource Center working to end domestic violence in our community. Caring Unlimited is committed to being an accessible, culturally responsive, and trauma informed organization. As part of a supportive, professional and dedicated team, the criminal justice advocate provides individual and group support and system navigation services for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and/or stalking at locations throughout York County. Upon completion of required trainings and successful onboarding, the position allows for a hybrid model of working both from home and from the Caring Unlimited office space. Caring Unlimited provides 3 weeks paid vacation, 12 paid holidays and comprehensive benefits to full time employees. Caring Unlimited pays 100% of health insurance premiums for staff and their dependent children.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide face to face Individual Advocacy (IA) for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and/or stalking in York County as needed, especially: support, systems navigation assistance, crisis intervention, safety planning, information and referrals.
  • Co-facilitate assigned day and evening support groups throughout York County
  • Assists victims to file for protection from abuse orders, provides information and education about the process, accompanies victims to court procedures.
  • Build and maintain relationships/network with other community agencies and organizations to increase accessibility and improve services.
  • Participate in rotating 24-hour helpline coverage and backup as assigned.

Job Requirements:

The following experience and skills are considered essential:

  • Experience and demonstrated skills in human relations, crisis intervention, peer support, individual advocacy, group facilitation, networking and conflict resolution preferred.
  • Proven people, organizational, direct communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle emergencies in a calm manner and de-escalate situations with skills in self-care and stress management.
  • Ability to: create and sustain positive working relationships with a diverse group of staff, volunteers, and people seeking services, from a strengths-based, empowerment-focused, self-help practice model;
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Successful completion of Background Checks.

Educational Requirements:

Associates Degree in related field or the equivalent in education and closely-related experience required. Successful completion of advocacy training within 6 months of hire.
