Position Summary:
To perform phlebotomy, EKG's, and simple respiratory tests such as Spirometry. Provides extensive patient services through registration, matching diagnosis to tests ordered to ensure proper billing, obtains ABN's when necessary. Assists in the clinical lab triaging and processing of patient specimens.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
6-12 months phlebotomy experience, OR completion of phlebotomy training program, OR 6-12 months healthcare and/or customer service, or successful completion of inhouse training program to continue employment
Essential Functions:
- Performs Phlebotomy, including finger and heel punctures on patients of all ages using various techniques and tools in a high volume setting while keeping focus on customer care.
- Performs EKG's on patients of all ages, following procedures and guidelines to ensure proper lead placement and produce an accurate reading / rhythm strip.
- Performs Spirometry on patients of all ages, collaborating with the nurse to administer pre and/or post respiratory treatments. Utilizes guidelines to ensure patient follows proper breathing techniques throughout the process providing accurate test results.
- Conducts proper patient identification measures many times with multiple resources on a single patient.
- Performs specimen registration and order entry in the EMR and Laboratory computer systems.
- Verifies proper billing and patient data and obtains ABN's when necessary to assure appropriate reimbursement and assists in other billing tasks
- Collects and performs specimen processing and preparation as needed.
- Assists in the training of new staff members.
- May perform testing as assigned and in accordance with established protocols.
- Ensures encounter forms are all accounted for and marked accurately
- Able to work in a fast-paced, high volume environment.
- Collects and/or handles specimen types include but are not limited to blood, urine, stool, and body fluids.
- Properly labels samples after collection and maintains proper storage to ensure integrity of collection
- Ensures proper specimen collection including those sent to reference labs.
- Loads samples onto laboratory instrumentation in accordance with established protocols.
- Completes event reporting for specimens not meeting requirements
- Performs extra duties such as order entry, scanning, filing, faxing and verification of result notifications

Salary : $29,700 - $37,500
