POSITION PROFILE

This position is primarily responsible for introducing newly hired drivers to the Carlile culture, training drivers in the safe, proper and efficient operation of company equipment, and developing, updating and implementing trucking related Training programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Operate safely and in compliance with all established HSSE policies and procedures
• Exemplify and enforce Carlile Safety Adhere to relevant Guidebook policies, including: Driver Guidebook, Load Securement Guidebook, and Pre-Trip Inspection Guidebook
• Monitor Dock and Yard training for drivers
• Perform Driver Mentor duties
• Perform in-cab PACE training - Evaluating and mentoring drivers to enhance skills and improve behaviors
• Maintain accurate records and reports
• Conduct Carlile training to include:
• Tire Chain-Up training and evaluation
• Truck-Tractor for Shop training and evaluation
• Kalmar-Ottawa Yard Tractor training and evaluation
• LCV training, as necessary

• Oversee Powered Industrial Truck Evaluations conducted by Dock and Yard Leads
• Conduct Pre-Hire road tests, as necessary
• Conduct and/or assist in New Employee Orientation
• Assist in the development of new Carlile Training Programs
• Perform administrative duties in Carlile's Learning Management System (LMS) to assign and monitor driver training
• May assign and oversee jobs, tasks and/or responsibilities to those drivers under mentorship or those individuals participating in training conducted or monitored by the Driver Trainer II
• May be required to provide information to a supervisor or update the company on Mentee or Trainee progress via meetings or reports
• Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Current Class A CDL with X & T Endorsements - longer Combination Vehicle Certification
• A good driving record as stated in current hiring policy
• Current, valid Medical Examiner Certificate (Medical Card)
• Three (3) years driving experience in at least 2 categories (Local - LTL, Local - TL, Line, Heavy Haul, Tanker, Prudhoe Bay)
• Demonstrated experience delivering driver training in three specific arenas: formal classroom, informal gathering and on-the -job
• Health, Safety and Environmental Technician Training (NIT) (Obtain within first 6 months of hire)
• LCV and PACE Trainer certified
• Demonstrated experience in planning (design), development, and implementation of driver training programs

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Working knowledge of Carlile Driver Guidebooks
• Working knowledge of Carlile Training Programs
• Conversant with Carlile Safety Policies
• Demonstrated effectiveness at delivering training in a multitude of settings
• Knowledge of the basic principles of adult learning and development
• Demonstrate emotional intelligence and work with all kinds of people in an accepting and productive manner
• Proficient in MS Window and MS Office Suite
• Professional appearance and conduct

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
This job typically operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and other office related devices. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and in a generally hazard free environment.

Occasionally the work is performed in an external environment with exposure to inclement and extreme weather (wind, rain, ice, snow) and varying temperatures variations. May be exposed to hazardous chemicals, materials, and airborne pathogens. During outdoor period this position is subject to frequent walking, bending, and lifting.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.18 - $32.82 per hour
