Status: Full Time
Salary Non-Exempt: $80,000 annually, commensurate with skills and experience.

SUMMARY

In the Clinical Specialist position, you will work under the Vice President (“VP”) of Care Operations to support the nurse and medication departments. This position is responsible for executing directives from the Home Office to the communities, and responding to community needs. Responsibilities include: collaborating with your direct manager and various community leaders; creating and facilitating training materials; analyzing data to identify risks; and conducting Quality Assurance (QA) reviews to each community across Northern California. This position also involves: serving as a liaison between healthcare professionals, family, and staff; providing floor support as needed; and assisting the communities with maintaining compliance with company policies and Department of Social Services (DSS) guidelines

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned by your direct manager. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.

  • Develop, evaluate, and implement nursing and medication room standards with a goal of improving safety, efficiency, and overall service to residents.
  • Develop and implement nursing and medication room related training materials based on trends and areas of opportunities.
  • Review/analyze data and strategize on solutions to any risks identified.
  • Conducts on-site Quality Assurance reviews every quarter.
  • Hands-on shadowing and coaching of the Nurses and Medication Technicians as needed.
  • Conducts quarterly Nurse and Medication Manager meetings to maintain consistency in standards of care.
  • Conduct comprehensive on-boarding and training for all newly hired Nurses and Medication Managers.
  • Communicates to physicians, various healthcare partners, families/RPs, and staff any relevant issues pertaining to resident health matters.
  • Communicates and resolves resident and responsible party concerns as needed.
  • Oversight of the Electronic Medical Administration Record (eMAR) management and support.
  • Requires willingness to travel to all Carlton communities within a 100 mile radius.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures and State Regulations, and consults VP of Care Operations to ensure compliance with Title 22 if questions arise.
  • Assume the responsibilities of a Community Nurse during staffing gaps.
  • Act as a resource and problem solver for current residents, guests, family, and staff.
  • Dress appropriately per the Company’s standards outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Develop, facilitate, and evaluate periodic staff meetings, in-service training, and mandatory meetings as required.
  • Observe Residents’ Rights, as posted within the facility, to include any updates thereto.
  • Mandated reporting – if you suspect any verbal, physical, emotional, financial, or neglectful treatment toward a resident or staff member, report it to your supervisor immediately.
  • In Emergencies, assists residents according to the Emergency Plan of the facility.

QUALIFICATIONS

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Must have an appreciation and understanding of the senior population.
  • At least two (2) years of RCFE Experience required.
  • Graduation from an approved vocational nursing or registered nursing program.
  • One (1) year of nursing experience, or relevant work experience preferred.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in facilitating training and teaching sessions, in both group and individual settings.
  • Experience in public speaking or engaging with large groups of people preferred.
  • According to Title 22, Section 87411(b) requirements must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Reasonable expectations of mathematical, technical, and reasoning skills to perform the essential functions of the position.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate with employees and residents and speak effectively before groups of employees of the organization.
  • Interact with our customers – including residents, family members, and all staff members – according to the concepts identified by the Company and its commitments.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting documents in English and understanding various forms of communication, including instructions, emails, and notices.
  • Effective conflict resolution skills to address conflicts, concerns, and issues in a diplomatic and constructive manner, fostering a positive work environment and team cohesion.
  • Must be able to use technology, such as Company-provided phones, laptops, and tablets, to communicate with staff.
  • Remain professional and respectful interactions with our customers – including residents, family members, and all staff members.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Active and in good standing California License Vocational Nurse (LVN) and/or California Registered Nurse License (RN).
  • R.C.F.E license preferred.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States of America and provide sufficient work authorization documentation(s), as requested.
  • Department of Justice and FBI fingerprint clearance must be completed prior to working in the community (obtained through the community).
  • Health screening/Physical and negative tuberculosis test must be less than six (6) months old (obtained through the community).
  • First Aid/CPR Certification (obtained through the community).
