About this job

Under direct supervision, this position provides support to the Payroll Department for all tax related matters and is the point of contact on many of the different initiatives defined by the management team. This position also plays a significant role with process improvement initiatives and special projects as assigned.

What you will do - Essential Responsibilities
  • Ensure integrity of data for the payroll processes by reviewing and validating data entered into Workday or interfaced through other systems.
  • Identify and troubleshoot data errors coming from multiple files and sources. Determine the root cause of discrepancies and exercise judgment to determine solutions or escalate issues as appropriate
  • Review federal, state, local returns processed by vendors. Maintain a positive professional relationship with vendors.
  • Analyze current and future workflows within own department and related departments and make recommendations to improve efficiencies aligned with industry best practices.
  • Assist in year-end activities, Recs and all tax related tasks.
  • Ensure timeliness and accuracy are achieved in processing all tax remittance payments.
  • Manage elevated associate issues as well as requests and questions from Field/HR leaders.
  • Performs internal payroll tax audits and create and maintain departmental process procedures.
  • Provide back-up support to other team members, as needed; administrative, training and other tasks.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • Four-year degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology or equivalent business experience.
  • 2 years of Multi-State; Multi-Company Payrolls with focus in tax preferred
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)
  • Strong Microsoft Access and SQL knowledge preferred
  • CPP / FPC certification preferred
  • Ability to motivate peers
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships
  • Ability to provide compliant solutions while resolving customer service issues in a positive and professional manner
  • Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner while balancing time, multi-tasking and interruptions
  • Ability to use functional knowledge while serving as a resource for internal customers
