Summary:
We are looking for an experienced DON to join our family of Caregivers. As a DON, you will have the ability to be surrounded by amazing Residents and fellow Caregivers daily and will help develop a collaborative workplace with attention to quality care for our Residents. The DON is responsible for the daily functioning of health care needs of Residents as well as supervision of the nursing department.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Supervision over nursing staff and the medication delivery system
* Training new Caregivers
* In-service trainings for existing Caregivers
* The DON will act as the designated person in charge when administrator is absent
* Plan and oversee admission, nursing and patient care process
* Oversee all record-keeping processes
* Develop, implement, and maintain ongoing Quality Assurance Program for nursing staff
* Orders, stores and assists with medication according to current physician orders and community policies.
* Performs medication pass as needed, in a timely and correct manner.
* Assist with resident care as needed
* Assist with resident meals as needed
* Assist with residents moving in or out
* Completes new admissions into the community
* Observes and communicates any changes in resident physical or mental condition.
* Completes and reviews incident reports as needed.
* Assists with training of new team members.
* Maintain service plans.
* Maintain current resident record for each resident including but not limited to, obtaining current physician orders, clarifying orders, and alert and monthly charting.
* Avoids loss, breakage and waste of supplies and equipment.
* Wears name tag at all times.
* Has a working walkie on them during their shift.
* Maintains clean, neat, comfortable, safe environment for residents, team members and visitors.
* Assures residents at risk of wandering are safe and secure with a wander bracelet.
* Keeps Administrator informed of all departmental needs and issues.
* Responsible for checking 1st Aid kit monthly.
* Responsible for answering and responding to call lights, door alarms as needed.
* Knows and follows Emergency Procedures, Elopement, and all other procedures.
* Performs all other duties assigned by Administrator
* Must attend and/or complete all assigned training to meet DSS regulations
* Must be willing to do other assignments as assigned by Administrator.
* Responsible for keeping resident information confidential; respecting resident rights; respecting privacy.
* They will assist the Quality Assurance Committee with implementation and action to correct deficiencies
Job Qualifications:
* Must meet requirements imposed by licensing authorities
* Must be certified as a Registered Medication Aide or LPN
* Must have ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions at a level necessary to accomplish the job.
* Must have good organization skills
* Must have good supervisory skills
* Must be willing to praise and discipline team members as appropriate
* Must have good time management skills.
* Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
