The Overnight Recovery Support Specialist supports the operation of the Residential Treatment program and Sober Living Program by assisting the staff and clients. This is a great position if you are seeking field hours to become a Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor. You may also have opportunities for clinical supervision!
The Recovery Support Specialist is a part-time on-call position working evenings, overnight, and weekends. This team member will occasionally be working with clients in emotionally charged situations and must be comfortable and able to maintain composure. They must be able to immediately identify the appropriate staff member to assist client in stabilization during these charged situations.
Essential job duties:
· Conduct routine Urinalysis (UA) and breathalyzer tests and prepares lab sheet and testing materials in compliance with Casa UA testing policies and procedures.
· Conduct non-technical routine laboratory tests and procedures under the direction of professional staff.
· Open, separate, number, and arrange specimens for laboratory examination and trace results.
· Maintain simple laboratory records and inventory for supplies and reagents.
· Observe and document quality assurance records, as indicated.
· May be required to facilitate medication monitoring, which includes observing and documenting the clients’ self-administering of medication.
· Regularly walk through the property while checking on clients to ensure the safety and cleanliness of the facility. Complete and document shift checks as defined by the daily monitoring log.
· Report any identified safety concerns or potential hazards on campus to the appropriate staff.
· Identify clients in distress and contact the Clinical Director to assist the client in emotional regulation and stabilization.
· Scan documents to the Electronic Health Record, print sign-in sheets and daily schedules, and answer incoming calls.
· Assists with client intake, program activities, and general office duties as directed by the management staff.
Qualifications:
· High School Diploma or equivalent
· Must be registered with one of the three state authorized AOD agencies: CCAPP, CAADE, or CADTP
· Working knowledge of the field of alcoholism and substance abuse treatment and prevention
· Able to work on-call, weekends, evenings, and sometimes overnight
· Must have computer skills required to be proficient in daily job functions and the ability to multitask and prioritize.
· CPR/First Aid Certification
· A TB test within the last year
· Valid CA Driver’s License
· Must have a driving record with 2 points or less on your license
· Ability to take and pass drug/alcohol test on a regular basis
· This position requires that the employee be able to walk up and down stairs and lift 20 lbs.
· Bilingual, Spanish, preferred
