Summary
The Career Services Advisor is responsible for the execution of all career related services for Casper College students and alumni. The advisor collaborates with campus and community partners to administer services that build career readiness and enrich the total development of students and alumni.
Responsibilities
The Career Services Advisor is responsible for execution of career related programming and resources to help students explore interests, identify a career path, build career ready skills, and successfully transition into the workforce. The Career Services Advisor also serves an essential role in supporting retention efforts through the advisement of General Studies majors and new students, providing academic coaching, and assisting with retention programming. This position reports to the Career Services Coordinator.
Essential Duties

Execution of essential career services; this includes career and major exploration, resume writing, interview preparation, and connecting students to various work experiences such as informational interviews, internships, or job opportunities.

Collaborate with campus and community stakeholders including CC employees, local employers, nonprofits, and government organizations

Maintain accurate notes of students seen and duties performed; maintain appointment statistics and analyze data toward improvement of services and student outcomes

Maintain knowledge of career services best practices including labor market trends and employer recruitment methodologies.

Provide retention support services including general studies advising, new student advising, academic coaching.

Administer and oversee online onboarding and new student orientation

Support and assist team members in the execution of prospective and current student programming or services

Serve the broader mission of the college and Student Services by serving on campus committees and attending student events

Work Environment & Physical Demands:
Typical work environment is an office setting requiring normal safety precautions. Work is usually performed during the normal work day, however, occasional early morning, late evening and weekend work may be required. Short periods of time will be spent outdoors traveling between campus buildings in various weather conditions. Due to busy seasons, there will be specific times of crucial availability when leave time may not be approved.
Employee is regularly required to sit, speak, hear, use hands and fingers to handle materials and use computer, feel, and reach with hands and arms. Occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds may be required. Less frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds may be required (office supplies, paper boxes, etc…).

Bachelor's degree

1 year work experience
Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree

Education and experience in the areas of social work, counseling, psychology, education or similar fields

Licensed Professional Counselor, LCSW, or has a certified career coaching credential

Certification in Strong Interest Inventory
