Caterpillar’s Electrification & Energy Solutions (E&ES) Division will focus on delivering advanced electrified power train, zero-emissions products/technologies, and the solutions and services associated with these technologies. Focus areas include batteries, fuel cells, motors, inverters, micro grid controllers, charging, energy storage systems, lifecycle solutions/services and integration of components for ePowertrain solutions across industries. The Engineering Manager – Power Electronics role will have the opportunity to lead a team of engineers to deliver power electronic designs focused on near term production, supporting existing production components, growing our supply base, and establishing execution excellence. This role will be focused on managing the team as well as technical development and execution of current generation power electronics, shaping the future of how these components are applied across our organization. Caterpillar’s Power Electronic Systems & Components team designs and develops low-voltage (1500V<) inverters and converters used in Cat machines and stationary applications. As more CAT products become electrified, there is a growing need to develop a full product line of power electronic components to support them. Strong, cross organizational collaboration will be a must in this fast paced development environment. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Establish and execute a sustainable power electronics product line Leading a highly engaged team of 10-15 engineers responsible for delivering world class power electronics through New Product Introduction (NPI) process and power electronic core component development Support production maintenance and Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) execution on existing products Lead focused cost reduction efforts and sourcing decisions Establishing and driving execution excellence and continuous design process improvements Continually assessing staffing and organizational structure and driving changes as needed Providing people leadership inclusive of coaching, career planning, and performance management Communicating effectively with team members, management, and business partners Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent 10 years of relevant, progressive engineering experience 7 years of machine, systems integration or component development 3 years of power electronics component development experience 2 years of direct supervisory experience Servant leadership mentality Top Candidates will also have Successfully delivered complex new technology Hardware design control responsibility covering product design, part quality, and assembly quality Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills Excellent decision-making, analytical and problem-solving skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong business acumen Additional Information The possible locations for this position are Mossville, IL, Aurora, IL, Lafayette, IN, Chicago, IL, Dallas, TX, and Tucson, AZ. Compensation and Benefits: Base Salary for role ranges from $136,488 to $204,732. Actual salary will be based on experience.
