The Director of Benefits will be responsible for managing Catalina’s benefits program for health, welfare, and wellness. This includes the core responsibilities of benefits administration, open enrollment administration, and benefits vendor management. The successful candidate will work closely with vendors to plan for the upcoming year's open enrollment and will be responsible for managing the open enrollment process as well as ensuring compliance with all relevant benefits regulations and overseeing the accurate administration of Catalina’s leave programs. The Benefits Manager will also evaluate and benchmark the organization's benefits programs to ensure they remain competitive and cost-effective.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement a comprehensive benefits strategy that aligns with the organization's goals and objectives.
Evaluate and benchmark benefits programs to ensure they remain competitive and cost-effective.
Serve as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries related to benefits programs.
Oversee compliance with federal and state regulations related to employee benefits programs, including FMLA compliance and administering leave plans.
Collaborate with People & Culture and other departments to ensure benefits programs are effectively communicated to employees.
Administer the benefits program for health, welfare, and wellness, including managing billing (self-billing), contract or plan negotiation, and plan compliance.
Provide benefit orientation for new hires and resolve employee benefits issues.
Analyze benefits data and provide reports on program usage and effectiveness to management.
Develop and manage the benefits budget within established guidelines.
Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to employee benefits.
Manage the communication, enrollment, and administration of all employee benefit programs, including health and wellness plans, retirement plans, and other benefit programs.
Serve as subject matter expert for HRIS benefits system (Workday) administration.
Ensure timely and accurate enrollment and administration of all employee benefit programs.
Coordinate with vendors on issues around benefits and leave plans.
Work with benefits vendors to plan for the next year's open enrollment.
Audit enrollment records with benefit vendors
Work with vendors and consultants to negotiate and manage benefit plan contracts.
Serves as point of contact with benefits vendors regarding new regulations or coverage allotments.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field
5 years of experience in benefits administration, with experience managing health and wellness plans, retirement plans, and other employee benefit programs.
Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations related to employee benefits programs
Experience analyzing benefits data and providing reports on program usage and effectiveness.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate benefits programs to employees at all levels of the organization.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience working with vendors and consultants to negotiate and manage benefit plan contracts.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of COBRA, ACA, benefits programs, HIPAA, and FMLA regulations
Knowledge of leave program details, including FMLA coordinated leave.
Proficiency in Workday and Excel
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
