The Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit is designed to assist patients who have experienced a loss of function from an injury or illness such as stroke, traumatic brain jury, spinal cord injury, joint replacement surgery or other event that has affected their activities of daily living. The goal of the Rehabilitation Nurse is to assist these individuals attain and maintain maximum function and prepare them for re-entry into the community.

Our Acute Rehab Registered Nurses (RNs) will:

  • Assess, monitor, administer medication, document progress, and overall management of care for the Rehab patient population
  • Partner with an interdisciplinary team including, but not limited to, attending physicians, Registered Nurses (RNs), and ancillary staff to optimize patient outcomes and satisfaction.
  • Advocate for and build meaningful relationships with patients and their loved ones through safety intervention, emotional support, and education.

What you’ll bring:

  • Passion for Rehab Nursing
  • 1 Years of working RN experience
    • New Grad RNs may be considered
  • Previous Subacute Rehab, long term care, nursing home, or acute care experience preferred
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred
  • Licensure: New York Registered Nurse (RN) License & Registration
  • Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) required

Nearly 80 hospital beds are dedicated to inpatient acute rehabilitation—more than any other hospital on Long Island. Patients are often admitted for acute inpatient rehabilitation with the following conditions or diagnosis: amputation, brain injury, cardiac or pulmonary conditions, hip fracture, neurological conditions, orthopedic conditions, sports injuries, stroke, spinal cord injury, or traumatic injury/fractures. St. Charles Hospital is the only Long Island hospital accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation and outpatient medical rehabilitation for adults and children.
