Radiology Assistant
Per Diem
The role of the radiology assistant is to coordinate and prepare all patient exams and activities in the CAT Scan department in a manner that is commensurate with the mission, vision, and values of the hospital. Performs under the supervision of the CT supervisor. Ensures safety and care of patients in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Determine appropriateness of examinations and contact physicians to clarify or modify orders when necessary
- Transfer patients on/off exam tables
- Transport patients through the ER to the CT Scanner and/or radiology department
- Answer telephones in a timely manner
- Communicates with professionalism at all times
- For outpatients, check prescriptions to ensure patient demographics are correct, physician signature present, and reason for exam listed
- For inpatients, check requisitions for accuracy, including verify patient identification, physician's signature, and diagnosis.
- Arrange transport
- Assist in procedure rooms
- Update technologists with appointment status (cancelations, changes, etc).
Requirements:
- Current Radiology students preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Excellent communication skills; computer skills also required
- Prior hospital experience preferred
