What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer Planner III position at Cattron?
With minimal supervision, the Buyer Planner III is responsible for, but not limited to, performing material planning activities in the Demand, Production, and Supplier Planning functions of customer demand fulfillment in order to ensure total customer satisfaction within required timeline, quality standards, and total cost constraints.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create and maintain stand alone and blanket purchase orders and supplier schedules based on MRP action messages and new engineering change orders.
- Manage and chase all open orders or blanket releases to ensure on time delivery.
- Develop and execute purchasing strategies to optimize inventory levels and minimize costs.
- Aid in negotiating contracts and pricing agreements with suppliers to ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Collaborate with New Product Development groups to ensure best time and price for prototypes, product launches and production quantities.
- Negotiate price to hit Purchase Price Variance plans and targets.
- Negotiate improved lead times and monitor consumption to ensure right sized inventory levels.
- Participate and be a driver in Continuous Improvement Opportunities with the tangible goals being: lower costs, lower lead times and safety stock, while also improving On Time to Customer Requests.
REQUIREMENTS
- Previous demonstrated experience in production procurement activities, prefereably in a technological environment.
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of working within various MRP systems.
- A strong sense of urgency and can-do spirit
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite of products
- Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- BS or BA from accredited 4-year college preferred.
- Five or more years of procurement activities in a manufacturing environment, electronics preferred.
