Construction carpenter

General Description :

This position is responsible for assisting in the functions required for construction, maintenance, and repair of architectural structures.

This position will be responsible for driving CCI’s Mission, Vision, and Values; a crucial part of the strategic plan to drive success.

Essential Duties & Job Functions :

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and / or ability required.

• Ensure a safe work environment.
• Participate in CCI’s STEPBACK safety program and stay compliant with online training modules. Review and comply with the various Client’s safety programs.
• Your responsibility includes representing the Company in a professional manner at all times.
• Assist Journeyman in constructs, erects, installs and repairs structures and fixtures of wood, plywood and wallboard while conforming to local building codes.
• Assist Journeyman in constructs, erects, maintains and dismantles scaffolding per OSHA specifications.
• Assists Journeyman in constructs, erects and dismantles concrete forms, shoring and supports.
• Performs above listed functions with proper use and care of the tools and equipment commonly employed in industrial construction such as electric drills, saws, router, nail gun, scaffolding and builder’s level, etc.
• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

• Knowledge of framing methods, building components, the use of various patented form systems, shoring and layout work.
• Knowledge of the various woods, fasteners, hardware and other materials commonly found in an industrial construction site.
• Skilled in measuring, cutting, drilling, nailing and etc...

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and tools and severe outside weather conditions.

The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles in a mechanical shop environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Hearing protection and the use of safety eyewear is required in most working situations.

Requirements

Required Qualifications :

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• One (1) year of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
• A current Cook Inlet Training Standard (CITS) health & safety card OR OSHA 10 hour OR 24-hour Hazwoper (Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response) training is required.
• A valid driver’s license is required.

Preferred Qualifications :

Carpenter experience preferred.

A pre-hire post offer Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) will be conducted to determine an employee’s ability to perform to the job standard.

MOBILITY : Must be able to access all areas of a construction site and climb scaffolding and ladders. Must be able to push / pull 50 pounds for 20 feet.

HEARING : Must be able to hear audible safety alarms.

VISUAL ACUITY : Must be adequate to perform above listed tasks in a safe manner.

LIFTING : Must be able to routinely lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist, 50 pounds from waist level to shoulder height and carry 50 pounds for 20 feet.

RANGE OF MOTION : An objective range of motion measurement will be conducted and recorded using a five position and rapid exchange grip strength test during the pre-hire / post offer FCE.
