We are seeking a Pole Loading Designer to assist with the design and production of engineering deliverables on complex overhead and underground utility distribution projects. This position may require interfacing with utility clients, customers, and the potential for collaboration with multiple offices.


Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and development of distribution voltage construction packages for both overhead and underground projects, including distribution equipment installation, feeder replacement, cable replacement, and new feeder design.
  • Work closely with the project team to ensure deliverables and services are being provided to client’s satisfaction.
  • Work closely with the project team to ensure that projects are following internal QA/QC guidelines.
  • Assist with calculations and use client specifications to create Pole Loading Analysis reports.
  • Assist with proposals, engineering/project cost estimates, and execution schedules.
  • Meet and correspond with clients or outside personnel.
  • Able to design an aerial path from point A to point B based on engineering best practices.
  • Review utility poles and field notes to determine most accurate make ready solution.
  • Research and document requirements on aerial construction by pole owner or customer for whom the work is being performed.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert for Pole Loading Design and Analysis, both internally and externally to CCI’s customers.
  • Create and promote the company image through exercising sound and ethical business practices as related to employees, the public, and customers. This includes ensuring that the service and quality provided to customers is superior to that of our competition.
  • Ensure accuracy of timesheets for self.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.


Qualifications we are looking for

  • Bachelor's or associate degree drafting technology or a related field.
  • 3 years relevant electric utility distribution design experience required.
  • Proficient with pole loading analysis software (e.g., O-Calc Pro, Katapult, PoleForeman, Spidacalc, PLS-Pole) required.
  • Proficient with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Microstation, Civil3D) required.
  • Working knowledge of MS Excel, Word & Outlook.
  • Understanding of distribution power flow preferred.
  • Understanding of CommScope cable sizes and specifications preferred.
  • Comprehend and utilize the “Ruling Span” method and formulas for span tensioning preferred.
  • OSHA Specifications pertaining to utility attachment separations and or clearances preferred.
  • Pole Make Ready comprehension experience preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Capable of devising new, more efficient approaches to solving problems and processes.
  • Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and to prioritize work.
  • Must be highly responsible and self-motivated.


Shift
is full-time Monday – Friday between the hours of 7:00 am – 5:00 pm CST. Must be flexible, and willing to work outside normal business hours, as necessary.


Additional Information

  • Occasional travel may be required – Must have valid driver’s license.
