General
Under direct supervision, apply CADD drafting standards, techniques, procedures, criteria and perform a variety of civil engineering support.
Typical Duties
· Draft engineering drawing, map, profiles, utility lines, or street layout using manual and Computer Aided Design Drafting (CADD) methods. Create engineering drawings from sketches, rough drawings, raw data, diagrams and verbal or written narrative instructions. Modify existing plans or drawings to reflect changes to plans or existing conditions. Developing routine specifications for materials, and construction and equipment plans.
· Field checking plans against actual utility lines, street construction, water and sewer lines, drainage lines and flow. Notify supervisor or engineer or conflicts or discrepancies and suggest corrective action or plan change as qualified if requested.
· Gather field data for a variety of engineering uses in planning, traffic flows, water and sewer installation, special investigation of complaints on plan modification. Count, measure, record of numeric and descriptive details. Read and analyze plan documents and drawings, compare actual conditions to plans, and recommend changes as requested. Collect and converting raw data into tables and graphs to assist in plan development, or for traffic control signal and signage installation and modification.
· Use prescribed methods, perform specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced CADD technician.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· Knowledge of construction, engineering design, and related CADD principles and practices.
· Knowledge of drafting techniques.
· Knowledge of word processing software, personal computers, and general office equipment.
· Must have good oral and written communication skills.
· Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
· Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation is required.
Managerial Responsibilities
None. May be assisted by a few aides or technicians.
Requirements
Experience: Entry Level to One (1) year relevant experience.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Licensure and Certification: Requires a valid Class C Driver’s License and proof of insurance.
