POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Portfolio Manager (“PM”) is primarily responsible for the safe and sound underwriting, administration, and portfolio management of commercial and commercial real estate (CRE) loans. The PM will also be responsible for underwriting and portfolio management of commercial and consumer loans and leases purchased from independent finance companies, banks and other third parties. The PM will ensure that underwritten loans meet the Bank’s credit policies, guidelines, and underwriting standards. The PM is responsible for accurate and thorough underwriting of the credit, including obtaining business and personal credit reports, preparing financial spreadsheets (“spreads”) of business and personal financial statements and for the accuracy and adequacy of financial analysis. The PM must assess the financial condition of existing and potential customers, analyze risk in existing relationships, and ascertain integrity of the risk rating system. The PM will participate and assist Relationship Managers in all aspects of account management, including due diligence, obtaining financial information, ordering appraisals and environmental reports, preparing, and maintaining portfolio reporting and exception reports, and assessing loan concentrations. The PM has co-responsibility for monitoring all covenant requirements (maintaining ticklers) and conditions advising senior management when a loan is in default. The PM will be responsible for reporting of portfolio characteristics to senior management and for preparing annual reviews, watch reports, and other various account management and portfolio reporting.

Responsibilities:

1. Ascertain that all loan underwriting is thorough and accurate, and adequately identifies all loan risk and mitigating factors.

2. Ascertain that loans conform to credit policy, and that all policy exceptions are identified at time of credit approval and/or annual review.

3. Participate in due diligence regarding new loan production.

4. Prepare, maintain, and ensure the accuracy of loan policy exception reports.

5. Assist with the maintenance of credit files.

6. Participate in various credit-related committees and forums.

7. Provide reports to Senior Management, including watch and various portfolio reports. May be asked to contact borrowers directly to obtain missing financial data and/or payments.

8. Develop proficiency to obtain loan and deposit data from the Bank’s Fiserv core system.

9. Coordinate use of outside resources perform annual reviews of commercial credits

10. Prepare credit requests of consumer credits for presentation to credit authority

11. Properly assign risk ratings to credits using the bank’s risk rating tools

12. Perform other related duties as required and assigned from time to time.

Training And Compliance: Must Complete required training courses, BSA/AML/USA PATRIOT Act/OFAC and any other assigned regulatory courses required to complete duties. Seek out additional regulatory training related to lending and credit functions. Participate in FiServ training.

Physical Limitations: Work may require bending, sitting, and standing, reaching, and lifting up to twenty (20) pounds. This is a full-time position seated at the Bank’s headquarters offices in Elkton, MD.

Minimum Education/Experience Required: Bachelor's degree required, preferably business/accounting related. Banking experience with five ( ) years in commercial portfolio management and/or loan review, preferably with a Bank or similar financial institution. Substantial experience in underwriting commercial and commercial real estate loans is required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
