Cedarhurst, a regional healthcare provider and true friend of older adults, seeks a service-minded, career-oriented individual to join our team as a full-time Assistant Director of Nursing (Memory Care Director) at our Cedarhurst of La Vista community.
As an Assistant Director of Nursing (Memory Care Director), you will be responsible for ensuring the provision of quality nursing care in accordance with Federal, State and Local regulations while efficiently and effectively leading the care staff team in conjunction with the Director of Nursing. In addition, you will promote the physical, personal, and emotional well-being of each resident and work with the Director of Nursing & Executive Director, as well as other community leadership, and care staff teams to strive to reach the ultimate goal, which is to return the resident to their maximum level of self-care and independence, when possible. You will also be responsible in leading your care team in optimizing each residents well-being and overall experience within the Memory Care neighborhood while also providing support to our Assisted Living residents.
As an Assistant Director of Nursing (Memory Care Director), working with the Director of Nursing, you will impact the lives of our residents by
- Assists Director of Nursing with defining and maintaining the standards of nursing practice within the community
- Assists with the oversight of provision of appropriate medications, treatments, and general nursing services according to the residents care plan and physician directed orders
- Assists in the development and maintenance of in-service education programs for nursing staff
- Conducts and participates in daily rounds to monitor the delivery of nursing care
- You will be required to be on-call as specifically needed by community
- Participates as a member of the communitys management team in planning, policy formation and administrative decision-making, with particular emphasis on the communitys care giver and nursing services
- Function as a liaison between the residents, their families, staff, third-party providers, and the general public - responding to inquiries and providing information on nursing care and services
- Assess potential residents for memory care level of care and assisted living, as well as those residents returning from leave for appropriate placement and level of care
- Trains, supervises, evaluates, and retains a high-performing resident care team
- Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Memory Care neighborhood, including marketing, sales, regulatory compliance, maintaining high customer satisfaction, meeting financial expectations, and ensuring a quality workforce
- Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Nursing in his/her absence
- Schedule and arrange resident medical transportation for appointments
- Oversees the day-to-day implementation of life enrichment activities, including parties for various occasions/holidays for Memory Care
- Oversees the overall Memory Care programming, both within and outside the community, including evenings and weekends to ensure residents are engaged and participating in daily activities and activities are being led by life enrichment staff
- Perform apartment inspections for new move-ins compile move-in packets and assist residents and family members during move-in
- Transport residents to and from activity programs and prepare the area and equipment as needed
- Provide nursing coverage and assistance when needed.
- Oversee the delivery of quality care and services to our Memory Care residents in compliance with the regulations pertaining to care plans and resident assessments
- Assess residents and potential residents for appropriate levels of care.
- Manage and coordinate the work of all nursing and care staff, communicating pertinent resident health and safety information.
- Will work with dining service to make sure that snacks are readily available in the Memory Care neighborhood
- Handle food in a safe and appropriate manner during mealtimes, activities, etc.
- Assist Director of Nursing with monthly staff in-service meetings as requested
- Coordinate with Dining Service Director to ensure residents receive a fine dining experience and work with DSD to ensure all staff are properly trained
- Must remain flexible and have the ability to work weekends as Manager on Duty, when necessary.
To become an Assistant Director of Nursing (Memory Care Director), you will need
- Current state license for LPN or RN is required at all times
- One year of nursing experience in a senior care community with proven leadership and organizational skills required, but 3 preferred.
- Bachelors degree from an accredited school of nursing preferred
- Working knowledge of best person-directed care practices for seniors, including those with dementia preferred.
- Must possess a current CPR certification at all times
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with proven experience in staffing, leading, developing, and retaining a strong resident care team.
- Ability to oversee the delivery of quality care and services to our residents in compliance with the regulations pertaining to care plans and resident assessments.
- Must possess knowledge of state regulations regarding senior living care, as well as a solid understanding of opportunities and limits of other levels of care within senior living.
- Conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times with the ability to effectively perform conflict intervention and resolution for residents, families, employees, and others as needed.
- Ability to work well with others and take direction from management, as well as take initiative willing to go above and beyond to ensure our residents needs are met and they are comfortable in their living environment.
- Self-motivated to accomplish identified goals with a strong sense of accountability for results.
- Proficiency in computer applications such as: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc), Electronic Health Record systems (EHR), such as ECP.
- Must be able to meet all physical demands of the job which includes, but is not limited to seeing, speaking, touching, walking, standing, bending, reaching overhead, crouching/kneeling or crawling, as well as the ability to regularly lift/move up to 50lbs independently and up to 100lbs with assistance.
