Cedartown First Methodist is a traditional congregation that appreciates a wide array of music from high-church to spiritual and gospel.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Music or Equivalent
Experience Conducting a Musical Ensemble
Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan, organize, and lead the ministry of music including but not limited to the following:
1. Plan, coordinate, & lead congregational music at regular and special worship services.
2. Direct the Chancel Choir by planning, overseeing, scheduling, and conducting musical rehearsals and worship service performances.
3. Ensure necessary musical personnel are present for rehearsal & worship including musicians, instrumentalists, and choir members.
4. Recruit & encourage participation in choral & other music programs.
5. Direct/Oversee the Handbell Choir with possible additional compensation for directing.
6. Attend meetings as required by the pastor/supervisor. Will serve as a member of the Worship Committee.
7. Supervise the use and maintenance of music, equipment, instruments, & supplies that pertain to the music ministry.
8. Prepare & submit an annual music budget in accordance with the budgeting process of the church.
9. Manage the music budget as approved and submit requested receipts, reports, & estimates in accordance with church policies and specified deadlines.
10. Purchase music and other necessary supplies.
11. Serve as a resource for the church and its members on music for weddings, funerals, memorial services, and other special occasions or services.
12. Hold office hours by appointment.
13. Will be available for services on Palm Sunday, Easter, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day (when applicable).
14. Will be compensated for four excused Sundays each calendar year.
15. When absent, the Minister of Music is responsible for securing a qualified substitute and will be personally responsible for their remuneration.
16. Other duties as assigned.
