SUMMARY:
The CAD Design Manager performs a variety of engineering/drafting activities including preparation of drawings for production.  The CAD Design Manager position is a critical role in making continuous flow and a smooth transition from concept to fabrication. Leading the team

  • Manage design team schedule to ensure on-time submittal of drawing packages.
  • Work directly with multiple engineers to ensure compliance and certifications of all drawing packages
  • Work with customers on design concept and schedule for drawing submittals
  • Assist Quality Team with all third-party submittal processes.
  • Ensure all required calculation, certification, and other supporting documentation is prepared by all team members for submittal.
  • Work with management/ sales team on schedules, costing, and technical requirements for each project.
  • Utilize software (AutoCAD and Revit) to create 2D and/or 3D designs for complex custom projects.
  • Use computer-aided design software to create designs and schematics used to manufacture products.
  • Populate drawings according to specifications, methods, and codes.
  • Coordinate the collection of data and incorporate this information into drawings, and schematics.
  • Coordinate with State agencies to get drawings approved.
  • Prepare dimensional drawings, installation drawings and schematics.
  • Ability to review, understand and interpret plans, specifications, codes.
  • Collaborate with others to establish timeline and solve problems related to the design.
  • Complete project designs within specified time to give shop floor ample time to build projects.
  • Maintain positive and professional relationships both internally and externally.
  • Ability to create Revit families and improve Revit library and standards.  
  • Responsible to make sure all specified material in Bill of Materials (BOM) meets or exceeds the customers specifications and requirements. 


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform duties in accordance with company standard policies and procedures.
  • Manage/ attend design review meetings.
  • Read, evaluate and fully comprehend all project specifications and change conditions.
  • Communicate project goals to the team in order to exceed budgeted goals.
  • Assist in monitoring of overall project schedules. Be able to accurately communicate time lines for design.
  • Assist with coordination of all required procurement and release of materials and equipment.
  • Manage submittal review, processing and approvals on each project.
  • Maintain positive and professional relationships with all customers, internal and external. Market Manufacturing to our clients and be on the look-out for any new or upcoming projects.
  • Visit project sites if necessary for required technical information gathering.
  • Assist Quality Manager to ensure company quality standards are achieved or exceeded.
  • Be a problem solver.  Contributes to the development or improvement of concepts, techniques, and procedures. 


Minimum Qualifications

  • 5 – 10 years of experience in management or team leadership.
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
  • 2-5 Years of experience with Revit
  • 2-5 Years of experience with AutoCAD
  • Critical Thinking -- Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Deductive Reasoning -- Reasoning from one or more statements (premises) to reach a logically certain conclusion.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to read project plans and specifications.
  • Works autonomously.
  • Seeks guidance for unusual or complex problems and supervisor approval for changes in standards.
  • Engages in company culture.
  • Open to feedback and flexible to change.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite.
  • Efficient written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong prioritization and organizational skills, detail-oriented
