Position Summary: 

The purpose of the Helpdesk Technician is to assist all physicians and staff in carrying out necessary technical tasks by troubleshooting hardware & software and fielding questions by phone, e-mail and helpdesk software. It is important that the Technician abides by HIPAA regulations, practices and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) procedures where appropriate as this position may be exposed to a number of environmental hazards.  Position is located in a pathology laboratory. Our Help Desk team strives to be safe, respectful, and diverse.  We enjoy working together and having fun doing it!  

 

Position Schedule: Monday - Friday with starting hours variable between 8am and ending at 5pm. Partial remote work schedule after onboarding period.      

 

Essential Duties: 

  • Answer incoming Help Desk calls 

  • Participate in On Call/After Hours Team Rotation 

  • Update JIRA helpdesk software 

  • Create user accounts 

  • Triage tickets submitted to the department 

  • Desktop and workstation setup and upgrades 

  • Orient new employees with appropriate hardware & software on their first day 

  • Projects as assigned by supervisor 

  • Travels to other sites as needed 

  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and escalate problems 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

  • Ability to adapt in fast paced environment 

  • Ability to work well under pressure 

  • Experience with Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, TCP/IP, VPN, Scanners, Printers, Phone, Microsoft Outlook/Exchange, O365 

  • Experience with Domain Management (Active Directory)  

  • Experience with MultiFactorAuthentication (MFA)  

 

Qualifications/Experience: 

  • Strong working knowledge of current versions of Microsoft Office Suite, Windows Desktop Operating systems 

  • Credentials including CompTIA A and/or Microsoft MCP/Windows, or AAS in Computer Sciences, preferred 

  • Hands-on experience with IT ticketing systems 

  • 1-year experience in a helpdesk or networking position 

 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Able to lift 30-50 pounds 

  • Able to move and set up equipment on, under and around workstations 

  • Sit for prolonged periods 

  • Computer use
