CASES is a New York City non-profit organization at the forefront of alternative to incarceration programs and comprehensive services for criminal justice-involved populations. The Clinical Director is responsible for oversight and leadership of all clinical aspects of the Pretrial Services Department. We are seeking a seasoned mission-driven clinician with proven leadership, direct-service and clinical supervision skills to assist our staff in delivering services to the highest standards of both a social service and court-based diversion program.
CASES is seeking a Clinical Director who will provide leadership in staff learning and development with a particular emphasis on evidence-based practices and interventions that are appropriate for the varied populations the program serves including; youth, individuals with current or past criminal justice involvement, and individuals with a wide range of behavioral health needs. The Clinical Director will assist staff in utilizing approaches rooted in Trauma-informed Care, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) within a court mandated setting. The position will require educating, mentoring, and inspiring multi-disciplinary staff across the Pretrial Service Department’s five program sites. As a part of the Senior Leadership Team, the Clinical Director will work closely with other senior managers in the department to ensure staff receive core training, supervision, and ongoing clinical consultations.

Reports to: Senior Director, Pretrial Services Department
- Provide expert clinical consultation to direct-service staff and supervisors in multiple formats that is consistent with the organization’s mission and values
- Responsible for the development and implementation of evidence-based strategies within the department, including the coordination of new initiatives designed to improve services to participants and overall program outcomes
- Serve as a resource for supporting staff learning and providing consultation on evidence-based treatment models and appropriate methods of delivery
- Coach and develop staff’s practice skills in accordance to the Pretrial Services Department’s Person-centered, Trauma-informed and Anti-racist approach
- Actively participate in individual and group supervision when indicated, including co-facilitation of supervision sessions, if necessary
- Collaborate directly with supervisors and team members to support positive outcomes for participants considered high risk or high profile
- Model effective teambuilding, collaboration, conflict-resolution and problem-solving skills within a clinical consultation environment
- Identify program performance criteria that may be measured to evaluate quality and opportunities for improvement as a result of recent trends
- Provide clinical guidance and contributions to the Development team to assist in the completion of funding proposals, on an as-needed basis
- Serve as a liaison to the Quality Improvement and Evaluation units of the department to coordinate responses to emerging trends in clinical presentations and staff needs
Master’s or Doctoral Degree in Psychology, Social Work or Mental Health Counseling with a minimum of five years of relevant experience- Provide supervision oversight for licensure hours in relevant discipline
- Minimum 3-5 years of management experience within social services
- Hold an active NYS registration as an LCSW, LMHC or Clinical Psychologist
- Working competent knowledge of Salesforce is preferred
- Ability to take initiative, prioritize duties, problem solve, pay close attention to detail, meet deadlines, work well under pressure and maintain an enthusiastic work ethic
SKILLS AND CAPACITIES:
- Documented experience training staff in a social service setting
- Knowledge of applicable Evidenced-based approaches and the ability to apply these approaches to appropriate clinical situations
- Candidate must possess strong communication skills and be able to interact effectively to maintain relationships with staff, court and community stakeholders as well as other external entities
- Availability to work during established program times and travel to various program sites, as necessary
- Certification in CBT, knowledge and skills in the area of cultural competency training, crisis response, and fluency in Spanish are useful
- Ability to work effectively with diverse teams
- Function effectively and comfortably in an evolving and dynamic program, dependent on trends in participants, staff and the political environment
- Knowledge of and commitment to social justice within the Criminal Legal System
