Center for Children’s Rights Resilience Navigator
The Resilience Navigator/Assessor is a fulltime position. The Navigator is expected to take initiative and ensure Center for Children’s Rights (CCR) offers effective programs, with high-level impact.
CCR Overview: CCR supports the development of young people (13-21) through a holistic approach that engages participants in programs and services grounded in the principles of youth resilience and a child rights-based framework. CCR supports juvenile justice-involved youth access pathways around and away from the juvenile justice system through access to supports and services for their well-being; connection to people, places, and activities that are optimal for their development; and being treated fairly and with dignity across child-serving systems. CCR empower youth to be right relationship with self, others, and our community.
Overview of Program Area: The Hope Pipeline Project is dedicated to addressing access, connection, and equitable treatment for youth involved with the juvenile justice system. Through a restorative and rights-based responsive team, our programming strengthens young people’s ability to successfully navigate and cultivate their own resilience and to be empowered as self-advocates.
Job Description & Responsibilities: The Navigator/Assessor completes voluntary initial assessments for youth who have been arrested. The Navigator/Assessor engages youth and family to identify and guide those services and supports that they feel will be most helpful to access health, well-being, and safety and to reduce further justice system involvement. This may include internal and external referrals.
In addition to assessment, the resilience navigator may provide concrete support, mind/body practices, and facilitate restorative family circles. Resilience navigation
empowers the youth and family to develop teams of community-based and natural supports and coordinates services across that team. The resilience navigator engages the youth in restorative conversations towards their goals and facilitates restorative justice practices to create secure and structured spaces for youth and their families to resolve conflict when conflict arises in the home or the community.
The Navigator/Assessor reports to the Director. Duties include, but are not limited to: Direct Service Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments with youth who have been arrested
- Generate assessments and provide to juvenile justice stakeholders as a means to guide resilience-based responses
- Provide resource brokerage and referral linkage, including internal and external resources
- Develop a holistic support plan with the youth focused on but not limited to sleep, exercise, nutrition, healthy relationships, mindfulness, and belonging
- Utilize restorative conversations to empower youth explore ways to resolve conflicts and overcome barriers
- Facilitate restorative practices to resolve conflict or make a situation better as needed over the course of involvement with the youth
- Facilitate community-based restorative justice practices, including connection circles and community conferences
- Meet with youth and families in the community across Duval County
- Evening and weekend work as required
Administrative & Documentation Responsibilities
- Timely contact and complete assessments
- Maintain accurate records (detailed case management notes, significant activities, informal interactions) by entering documentation into various electronic systems to satisfy internal and external evaluating requirements
- Attend partner meetings
- Communicate effectively with referral partners
- Meet any reporting deadlines as assigned by supervisor
- Generate monthly reports as directed
- Attend training and skill building sessions as required
- Work collaboratively as part of the Program Team
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Relevant lived experience
- Bachelor’s degree; Master's degree preferred
- At least 3 years of professional work experience
- Have some experience with a variety of conflict resolution practices
- Have some experience with trauma informed care and practices
- Must demonstrate ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with people in and about stressful situations
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrate knowledge of local community organizations and resources
- Possess strong computer skills, be detail-oriented, and self-directed
- Possess strong time management skills
- Ability to maintain client confidentiality according to established policies, federal and state statutes as evidenced by obtaining needed releases of information and maintaining updated releases of information.
- Must have a valid Florida driver’s license and reliable transportation

- Willing to adapt scope and responsibilities as needed to effectively achieve CCR’s mission and best serve the priorities, need, and interests of members

COVID-19 considerations:
All team members wear masks and any in person interactions with youth also require mask. Team members are currently able to work remotely when not engaged in direct service support of youth.
