Heat Pump Technologies Trainer

CEE is at the cutting edge of working across the Midwest to promote energy efficiency, beneficial electrification and decarbonization to provide maximum benefits to end use customers and society. CEE has a growing portfolio of work that involves deeply understanding the technical and market components of energy efficiency and decarbonization technologies and then translating those findings to actionable training and engagement with installation contractors, distributors, and manufacturers. Some key technologies of focus over the next five years are air source heat pumps and heat pump water heaters. Training tactics and opportunities include curriculum development based on technology and market research, webinar delivery, contribution to creation of on-demand content (videos etc.), and classroom style training delivery (both short and long formats) as well as train-the-trainer approaches.

Responsibilities

  • Play an integral part of growing our impact on equitable decarbonization and energy efficiency in the Midwest
  • Lead the development and delivery of contractor and supply chain training and engagement
  • Be a technical expert on air source heat pumps, heat pump water heaters, and interaction with building envelope upgrades. Primarily residential focused but may develop into commercial expertise and applications as well.
  • Closely track CEE and other national research efforts to convert the most cutting edge, data-driven research into action via the supply chain, particularly through contractors.
  • Gain an in-depth understanding of contractor, distributor and manufacturer perspectives and interests to align training content and create and deploy effective and persuasive messaging to speak to each audiences’ unique interests.
  • Scan for training and market development opportunities throughout the region, work with clients to develop and execute new training and education projects.
  • Scan for opportunities and develop presentations for industry conferences.
  • Take part in national equitable decarbonization engagement, planning, and working groups.
  • Effectively plan and deliver both short and long format training via web platforms and in-person through flexible and adaptive training and engagement techniques.
  • Mentor and train additional staff to train on key topic areas.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the HVAC industry and familiarity with both installer and distributor business models, have mastery of technical application of ASHPs, HPWHs, and building envelopes. Must have a keen interest in converting research into actionable and effective training to impact the market. Additionally, candidates should have the ability to work in a highly collaborative and multi-disciplinary environment to move ideas forward; the ability to think strategically and creatively; have clear and effective communications skills for both verbal and written communication; and a passion for achieving success. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:


  • Degree or certification in a related field required (Business, HVAC, etc.)
  • Minimum 5 years’ technical experience in HVAC or energy-efficiency industry required
  • 3 years’ experience at HVAC installer, distributor or manufacturer company preferred
  • 3 years’ experience working with utility energy efficiency programs preferred
  • 3 years’ experience in HVAC training or sales in a related industry preferred
  • Strong motivation to work in the energy-efficiency field
  • Proven track record of effective curriculum development, training delivery and partner engagement
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Desire to stay current on technical content and value proposition of emerging and cutting-edge technologies.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel between office and working sites.
  • Proficient with using computer software such as word processing, spreadsheets, databases, project management software, and electronic mail.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to view and operate a personal computer, either desktop or laptop, for extended periods of time creating, composing, and reviewing documents and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.


Working Conditions

  • Must have the ability to travel across the Midwest to deliver trainings and attend conferences and events. May consist of 50% or more travel at times depending on the market needs and status of in person training opportunities.
  • Primary working hours are within daytime business hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Ability to work beyond typical working hours as needed or required to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment with pressure to meet deadlines.
  • In-person or remote employment is acceptable.
  • Ability to perform work indoors in an office environment such as cubicle, open office, or private office.
  • Ability to work out of the office in the field which may include working around rotating equipment, high voltage, or warm, humid areas.
  • All safety equipment needed to perform the job will be provided by CEE along with training on how to use safety equipment.

Compensation

Dependent upon qualifications and experience, we expect the range for the position will be $75,000-$83,000 per year.
