SUMMARY

Lead strategic operations direction for the assigned location, including leading the areas of Personnel Management, Asset Management, Inventory Management, Safety and Financial Management, to align with our core values, mission, and vision. Build and manage customer relationships and experiences.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervise a team and be responsible for the hiring, training, mentoring, motivating, assigning tasks, goals, review performance, promotion, transfers, PIP’s, or terminations.

  • Spend time with your direct reports supporting them.
  • Engage in 1/1 discussions with direct reports.
  • Engage direct reports in developing goals, executing plans and delivery of results.
  • Ensure direct reports understand their job responsibility and job performance expectations.
  • Hold team members accountable to safety standards and procedures at the location.
  • Lead monthly 1/1’s, annual reviews, discuss key initiatives, updates, impact planning, goals and expectations to foster a success-oriented accountable environment.
  • Develop individual development plans to ensure team members’ retention and career advancement.
  • Recruit and hire qualified employees for the location.
  • Evaluate and position talent within the location that is the best fit for employee and company.
  • Foster an environment of employee engagement and work to drive locational employee engagement higher.



Understand the labor, technological, and customer trends in your Region/Industry. Develop a strategic plan from an operational perspective to align with the Mission/Vision of CVA, while assisting in lowering the cost of doing business and growing the market share of the Region.

  • Constantly evaluate assets and performance to ensure the longevity and relevance of an asset/service.
  • Work with Regional Leaders to align their vision with the product/service offerings of the location.
  • Work closely with the Value-Added Grain merchandisers to evaluate and define the needs of the customer base and ensure products and services to meet those needs.
  • Work with the ROM to develop long term Capital Expenditures needs for the location.
  • Strategically plan and forecast product use/projections for the location.
  • Evaluate and develop revenue generation through services offered.
  • Continuous evaluation of overall vision of the location.
  • Find alignment for operational savings and technological advances for our operation.


Oversee the Location’s Financial Performance.

  • Monitor the location’s financial performance through the year and by evaluating the yearly forecast.
  • Closely monitor repairs for location and work to limit.
  • Work with billing personnel to ensure timely and accurate billing.
  • Responsible for overall expense management within the location.
  • Monitor inventories and ensure proper inventory management and variance tracking.


Ensure a safe work environment through quality training, evaluations & accountability.

  • Facilitate adequate monthly safety meetings, yearly training sessions on safety programs, and verify LMS training is completed.
  • Promote a safe work environment and evaluate on a regular basis for complacency in the workspace.
  • Understand the ALL-IN Audit process.


Lead and plan the daily operations of your location.

  • Delegate duties and direct personnel daily to ensure proper execution of operational needs.
  • Continuously evaluate processes and procedures at the location identifying any deficiencies.
  • Work together with ROM to develop and execute grain movement plans for the location.
  • Be in constant communication with ROM to plan and execute daily operational needs and plans.
  • Oversee facility and equipment maintenance and appearance.
  • Contribute to the purchase of grain for the facility.
  • Manage grain inventory and conditions.
  • Manage inventories to continue operational efficiencies.
  • Manage all operational duties for that facility.
  • Load/unload trains as needed.
  • Understand the customer’s needs and wants.
  • Other operational duties as necessary.


Food Safety & Quality Control coordinator for the clean corn facility.

  • Perform functions directed towards controlling incoming and outgoing food corn quality.
  • Follow all food and personal safety rules and regulations in respect to OSHA, Global Food Safety Initiative, and sanitation guidelines as set forth by the Company.
  • Provides quality service to internal and external customers.
  • Communicates important quality, safety, and security concerns to staff and supervisor.
  • Lead all customer audits, BRC audit and other inspections.
  • Maintains familiarity with all testing methods, lab instruments, and chemicals inventory.
  • Maintains confidentiality of customer files and other documents
  • Ensures finished products at the facility comply with customer quality requirements.
  • Leads investigations into Customer Complaints, proposes corrective action plans, and generates response letters to customers.
  • Authors new quality and food safety policies, procedures, checklists, and other documents as needed by customer, third party, and industry standards.
  • Assists in preparing the plant for all customer visits.



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises 2 to 12 employees.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems in conjunction with division heads. Focus on highly engaged workforce with great communication skills.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • High School or GED diploma.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in an grain role required.
  • Proven history of delivery of results required.
  • Takes responsibility for the way money and resources are used and managed.
