The Role
The Compliance Specialist is responsible for coordinating the processing, input and dissemination of Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS), information security, audit and/or contract documentation both internally and externally as required by CJIS policy, customer agency needs and/or internal processes. This position assists in maintaining compliance with applicable state and federal laws as well as CJIS policies and/or operational procedures. Position is responsible for scheduling and prioritizing work and providing technical assistance to internal and external customers. May conduct or co-facilitate applicable training as needed. Work is subject to supervision by Assistant General Counsel to ensure conformance with established rules, policies, and procedures. This position is designated as a safety sensitive position. The Compliance Specialist position should have at least one (1) year of experience as a Compliance Administrator or equivalent thereof.
Job Duties Include:
- Responsible for knowledge and application of FBI CJIS Security Policy standards as well as state and customer variants thereof for all relevant jurisdictions.
- Managing fingerprint provider, reviewing invoices by fingerprint provider for accuracy, and submitting invoices to Accounts Payable.
- Manage paperwork submission to clients – including shipping, faxing, and emailing various secure documents, ensuring receipt and processing by our customer agencies.
- Ensure crucial personnel are cleared and expedite paperwork where needed for customers prior to onsite visits or scheduled implementations to those customer agency locations.
- Manage CJIS Online Security Awareness Training and Certification process, notifying employees within one (1) month of their CJIS Certification expiration and ensuring the proper procedures are followed for ensuring employees re-certify, as required, in a timely fashion.
- Responsible for maintaining SOP’s for each agencies and internal processing.
- Attends training courses as offered by CST or as required by law to maintain applicable certifications, remain informed of departmental operations, and to promote improved job performance.
- Able to continually pass background check requirements for working on and connecting to public safety information systems.
- Provide excellent customer service to all internal and external customers.
- Other responsibilities as required.
