The Proposal Manager will lead the Proposal Management Group in preparing Centrica Business Solutions’ responses to Requests for Proposals/Qualifications (RFP/Q) for customers in the public and private sectors. The Proposal Manager will act as a “Player/Coach” by managing Proposal Writers, including sales, engineering, and marketing staff who provide content in their disciplines. The Proposal Manager will oversee the organization of proposal materials and provide for continuous improvement in content and response efforts. The Proposal Manager will track Centrica Business Solutions’ success rate and make recommendations to improve our win percentage. The Proposal Manager will manage the timeframes, due dates, deliverables, and more to ensure all outgoing proposals are compliant and professional. The Proposal Manager will report to the Head of Sales and will be responsible for hiring a team over time to meet the needs of a growing sales effort.

Our Proposal Manager contributes to the team by:
- Owning the RFP process from beginning to end, including all proposal activities from the initial review of the RFP to the submittal of the finalized proposal using proposal outlines and schedules.
- Defining and executing company strategy for creating best-in-class proposals
- Building tools and templates to standardize and streamline the proposal development process
- Training and managing Proposal Writers, such as SMEs responsible for content development
- Managing the schedule and timelines around the RFP deadline. This includes assigning tasks to the deal team and keeping everyone on track, ensuring everyone’s contributions are delivered on time.
- Working with Account Executives and Sales Managers to define win themes and strategies for each deal.
- Working with Account Executives and other deal team members to proactively gather required information for proposal preparation.
- Structuring, developing, writing, and editing proposal text
- Working with Sales and Marketing teams to develop new visual assets for use in proposals, including images, infographics, tables, charts, and more.
- Conducting preliminary evaluations of RFPs to estimate the amount of time and resources required to respond and analyze CBS’ ability to respond with a winning bid.
- Editing all deliverables to ensure consistent messaging and high-quality look and feel
- Conducting post-proposal debriefing analysis
The core components needed to be successful in this role are (i.e. must haves):
- A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in communications, journalism, engineering, or business administration
- At least 7 years professional experience as a proposal or capture manager, preferably in the ESCO industry; or equivalent experience in customer-oriented proposal development roles.
- Ability to effectively operate within a fast-paced, deadline-driven team environment utilizing both project and timeline management skills and tools.
- Strong interest in energy efficiency, solar PV, demand response, and related technologies
- Excellence in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and web research tools
- Ability to multi-task with high attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to accurately edit and proofread the work of other writers and technical staff
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and confidence interacting with others
- Ability to take complex technical information and make it clear and easy-to-understand for a non-technical audience
- Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills, a high degree of determination

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $95,000-$145,000 bonus benefits. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location and expectations during the hiring process.
