OFFICE COORDINATOR - HOME HEALTH & HOSPICE

Full-time, 30-40 hours/week, benefited position.

Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm

Position Summary:

  • Works under the Direction of the Home Health & Hospice. Position includes Referral coordinator, ICD coding, receptionist and various duties within the Electronic Medical Record.

Job Duties:

  • Acts as receptionist answering telephone, greeting visitors to office and taking messages for employees of Home Health & Hospice. Refers difficult questions to professional staff members.
  • Insurance and Billing:
    • Verify insurance coverage and perform prior authorization as required.
    • Prepare claims for processing by Revenue Cycle Management Team.
  • Referral Management
    • Obtains information for referrals which requires diligence to obtain medical information from referral and other medical services.
    • Create the patient record in the EMR.
    • Assign Medical ICD coding for each patient.
  • Office duties include but not limited to:
    • Maintain orderly patient records
    • Submit mileage reimbursement
    • Timely filing of medical documents
    • Maintain Document manager within regulatory timelines for provider signatures.
    • Maintain yearly statistical data
    • Assure adequate supplies, charts and forms available at all times.
  • Functions and participates as a team member demonstrating collaboration with, and responsibility to patient, physician, interdisciplinary team.
  • Maintains a harmonious relationship with staff members and strives for good communication at all times.
  • Participates in Performance Improvement activities as directed by the Director.
  • Write office procedures and maintain office protocols so Office can function in absence of Office Manager.
  • Performs chart audits and participates in Performance Improvement activities as directed by the Director.
  • Compiles statistics and reports as needed by the Director of Home Heath & Hospice, Chief Finance Officer or Administrator.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2 years business school preferred.

Experience:

  • 2 years executive secretary with Health Care experience preferred.
  • Computer experience.
  • ICD coding preferred.
