Description:
The Sensory Specialist will be assisting the Sensory Team Leader with consumer activities, therapeutic techniques and general overseeing of the program. The position entails working with adults who have cognitive disabilities in a goal oriented sensory program. This position is “hands on” because there will be appropriate activities that are personalized for each individual. Some of these activities include driving to and participating in bowling, pool and a variety of community activities.
Responsibilities:
Associate degree in care giving field or two years of equivalent experience.
Must be 18 or older
Having the emotional and physical capability to respond to the needs of the consumers
Ability to make decisions based on the priorities of the consumers
Maintain consistency and quality as a team member providing care services
Being able to collaborate and communicate with fellow co-workers.
Requirements:
Must be able to lift 50lbs independently and up to 200lbs with an assistant
All employed must be able to pass a background check and general health exam
Must be free from transmissible diseases and be able to pass a Manatoux test prior to employment.
Must be able to write reports and be active with our consumers
Have a valid driver’s license
Must be able to participate in consumer activities.
