What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vet Technician position at Chandler Small Animal Clinic?
Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians in providing medical care to animals
- Perform animal catheterization and administer medications as directed by veterinarians
- Prepare animals for surgery, including prepping surgical sites and monitoring anesthesia
- Perform laboratory tests, such as blood work and urinalysis, and analyze results
- Take and develop X-rays of animals as needed
- Clean and maintain kennels and examination rooms
- Provide basic pet care, including feeding, grooming, and exercising animals
- Assist with dog training and behavior management
- Provide veterinary critical care to sick or injured animals
- Handle dogs and other animals safely and confidently
Qualifications:
- Certified Veterinary Technician or equivalent experience required
- Proficient in animal catheterization, aseptic technique, laboratory procedures, X-ray imaging, kennel management, pet care, dog training, and veterinary critical care
- Strong knowledge of veterinary medicine and procedures
- Excellent communication skills with both clients and team members
- Ability to handle stressful situations with composure and empathy
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
