What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Phlebotomist position at Chapa-De?
Salary: $21.45 - $26.07 starting, depending on experience.
Schedule: M-F 9:30AM -1:30PM (20 hours)
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Clinic Phlebotomist performs blood collections and other procedures on all age groups in a safe, accurate and professional manner in the ambulatory medical clinic setting. Performs venous, and skin punctures, and testing to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. The phlebotomist is responsible for accurate patient identification, specimen integrity and sample labeling. Interacts with customers in a pleasant, efficient and cooperative manner.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor patient flow for patients needing phlebotomy services.
- Perform venous and skin punctures to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
- Responsible for accurate patient identification, specimen integrity and sample labeling.
- Spin blood and prepare specimens in a timely manner in preparation for courier pickup/laboratory testing.
- Maintains work area, stocks phlebotomy trays and storage areas keeping work areas clean. Maintains inventory and supplies.
- Verifies that specimens are labeled correctly and transmitted electronically to outside reference lab.
Experience and Skills:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Licensed Phlebotomy Certificate issued by California State Department of Health Services.
- Minimum of six months of recent experience performing general (post-collection and pre-analytical) laboratory and phlebotomy duties.
- Interest and sensitivity to the needs of American Indians and diverse populations.
- Current BLS Certified CPR certificate.
- Current CDL, proof of vehicle insurance, and approved DMV print out
